BORZAKOVSKIY FOR 1000 m NATIONAL RECORD
MOSCOW (RUS): Olympic winner 2004 at 800 m Yuriy Borzakovskiy of Russia will compete during the indoor season. His first meet should be the 1000 m at Russian Winter IAAF Permit on February 1. The World championships medalist will aim to break the current national record 2:18.00 from 1987. The organisers also said that his rivals will be Ali Belal Mansour of Bahrain and Kenyan Haron Keitany who won the World Athletics Final this year. Also women´s 1000 m will be on the programme of the meet in the CSKA Hall where the IAAF World Championships 2006 were held.
BUBKA PLANS FOR HIS MEET
DONYETSK (UKR): Pole Vault King and currently world respected sports-administrator Sergey Bubka informed the Ukrainian media about his plans for traditional Pole Vault Stars indoor meet. In the coming indoor season the event will be held on February 14. It will be 20th jubilee edition and Bubka invited to the event not only the best female jumper Yelena Isinbayeva, but also Jenn Stuczynski, Anna Rogowska, Monika Pyrek, Tatyana Polnova and Yulia Golubchikova. On the men side Olympic medalists Steven Hooker, Yevgeniy Lukyanenko with Tim Mack, Brad Walker and Igor Pavlov should compete. Also IAAF President Lamine Diack should attend this prestigious event. The start list expects nearly 20 jumpers in each competition. In the history of the event Bubka himself registered three world indoor records (605, 611, 615) and Yelena Isinbayeva six global marks (481, 483, 487, 491, 493 and this year 495).
DUNKLEY CONFIRMED
MONTE CARLO (MON): In latest IAAF confirmed doping cases is the Jamaican sprinter Julien Dunkley from National Championships and is banned until July 27, 2010. Venezuelan 56 m discus thrower Hector Hurtado will not be able to compete until May 2010. Next case is 75 metres Spanish javelin thrower Jose Manuel Hermoso for cannabis who got three months of ineligibility until January 2009. Then four Russian athletes, from them 800 m runner Natalya Peryakova (2:01 level) for two years until October 2010, walker Irina Sorokina got three months.

BATA (GEQ): Following the withdrawal of the Seychelles Islands, the African Junior Championships will now take place in Bata, Equatorial Guinea, from July 2 to 5 2009, CAA informs.
OSLO (NOR): Norway’s running queen Grete Waitz has been honoured by King Harald with the Royal Norwegian order of St.Olav First Class for being an important role model. Only two others from the ranks of sport have received this high honour, namely figure skater Sonja Henie and footballer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
WARSZAWA (POL): Meeting director of Bydgoszcz EA Premium event and chairman of regional athletics federation Krzysztof Wolsztynski announced today his bid to become president of Poland Athletics Federation. He was also managing director of World Junior Championships held this year in Bydgoszcz. The elections will be staged early January. Other candidates are (so far) Jerzy Skucha and Wieslaw Wilczynski.
AMSTERDAM (NED): The website themazecorporation.net writes that Dutch Athletics Federation possibly tried to cover-up a doping case European steeple record holder Simon Vroemen. It was supposed to happen in 2006 to allow him to compete at European Championshipsi in Goteborg.
LAGOS (NGR): Nigerian media are informing, that Athletics Federation of Nigeria boycotted the 4th Obudu International Mountain Race. Apart from the fact that the Violet Odogwu-Nwajei led board refused to honour invitations from the Local Organising Committee of the race, top Nigerian marathoners were also threatened with ban if they go to Obudu to compete in the highest paying road running competition in the continent. Coach Kolo Mohammed who is the main person in charge of the marathoners in the country was also warned to stay away or risks an indefinite suspension from all AFN organised events. Further checks revealed that disagreement between the LOC officials and the AFN secretariat on the amount to be given to the athletics officials was the main reason for the boycott.
RESULTS
LA ROCHELLE (FRA, Nov 30): Ethiopian Ketema Amensisa won the 18th La Rochelle Marathon with 2:14:21 beating armada of Kenyans headed by David Cherono (2:15:22). Best European was Adam Dobrzynski of Poland as 8th (2:22:03). Elizabeth Chemweno of Kenya scored a women win (2:34:52) beating Anzhelika Averkova of Ukraine (2:37:27).
MAZATLAN (MEX, Nov 30): Kenyan Georgo Okworo won the Gran Maratón PacÃfico as Race Results Weekly informs in 2:15:49. Monica Muthoni achieved another Kenyan win after 2:42:28.
TOLEDO (ESP, Nov 30): Elijah Chelimo dominated the Cross Toledana at 9.175 clocking 27:09 ahead of best home runner Enrique Sanchez (27:09). Maria Jose Pueyo was the best woman at 6.175 km (21:42).
ST. PRIEST (FRA, Nov 30): Said Berioui won the Cross des Myriades here with 27:22 ahead of Kenyan Peter Kurvi (27:23). Former Olympian Mustapha Essaid was 6th (28:17).
BIEL (SUI, Nov 30): Foreign winners at a Cross Country race here. Kenyan Daniel Kiptum clocked 23:58 at 8 km and Petra Kaminkova of Czech Republic 22:59 at 6.4 km.
BARDEJOV (SVK, Nov 29): 13th International St. Nicolaus road race winners were Igor Teterukov of Belarus with 23:55 at 7.8 km and Lila Fishkovich of Moldova with 18:58 at 5.2 km.
CALI (COL, Nov 28-29): Last results from National Games brought solid long jump for Fredy Murillo (778) and fast walks. Olympic 9th placer Luis Fernando Lopez achieved 1:21:12 at 20 km. Sandra Zapata got 1:37:20 in women race and Rodrigo Moreno achieved 4:05:23 at 50 km.
TORINO (ITA, Nov 30): Kenyan Eligy Ngeny won the 10 km road race here after 29:40 and Sudanese Durka Mana Kalameya was the best woman (35:24).
