The double that Sam Atkin did on the weekend at Dec 4-5, 2020 should open some eyes! A 13:18.57 and a 27:26.58, done on consecutive nights in Southern Cal event called The Track Meet, produced by Sound running at their event, The Track Meet.

LONDON (GBR): British long distance runner Sam Atkin who last weekend hugely improved in the 5000 m to 13:18.57 and next day at 10 000 m to 27:26.58 in California, has not ruled out racing indoors and has an eye on the European Indoor Championships in Poland. He ran in the event last year in Glasgow, incidentally, placing eighth in the 3000m. Informs Athletics Weekly. “Obviously the big one is the Olympics but I’ve got other things I want to do in terms of times. Definitely in the 5000m I’m in way better shape than 13:18. Although I’m not sure right now when I’ll get chance to race that distance again until something like Payton Jordan. I probably should be doing some 1500s to get some speedwork in, too.” Atkin also enjoys the idea of racing the Night of the 10,000m PBs/European Cup in London in June as well. From Athletics Weekly.
