SYDNEY (AUS, Mar 13): Nina Kennedy cleared an Australian pole vault record and world outdoor lead of 4.82m on her first attempt at the Sydney Track Classic (WACT Bronze) before three attempts at 4.87m. Kennedy’s clearance improved the previous record held by Alana Boyd by one centimeter. Kurtis Marschall won the men’s pole vault with 5.75m and former world champion Dani Stevens returned from injury with victory in the discus with 63.36m. In track events, Peter Bol won the 800m in 1:46.12, Riley Day clocked 22.77 with a tailwind of 2.0 m/s and Liz Clay won the 100m hurdles in 12.88 (+1.3). In the 5000m races which served as the Australian Championships at the distance, Matthew Ramsden won the men’s title in 13:29.99 from Brett Robinson (13:31.97) and Jack Rayner (13:34.68) and Canada’s Andrea Seccafien won the women’s race in 15:25.62 from Jenny Blundell (15:25.84), Izzy Batt-Doyle (15:26.60) and Genevieve Gregson (15:27.43). Nicholas Hough posted 13.61 (+1.0) in the 110 m hurdles, Bendere Oboya 36.71 in the 300 m and Linden Hall 2:01.27 in the 800 m.
