Deep thought # 1: Mondo Duplantis is a superstar. He has come into 2022, ready for a year of championships (World and Europeans). His opening at 6.02 meters, shows that Duplantis continues to improve his fitness, and we could see some amazing vaults this season. The other point is, Mondo seems to love what he does. We hope to see him around for another decade.

Deep thought # 2: Pascal Martinot Lagarde is one of the finest hurdlers in the world. He set World leaders in the heat and the final. Pascal is one of the fine hurdlers from France. He is a tremendous athlete and when on, can compete with anyone. What will he be like when the Olympics come to Paris in 2024?

Deep thought #3: Danielle Williams is the gold medalist from Beijing 2015. She is starting off with a tremendous season in 2022, setting a PB at the 60m hurdles in Karlsruhe. Watch her in 2022.

Deep thought #4: Berihu Aregawi just missed the 3000m meet record with his fine 7:26.20. Aregawi is one of a half dozen guys who can be in that 5000m global battle in Eugene this coming July, battling for medals. Aregawi is a tough competitor, and he should never be discounted when he shows up at the starting line.

Deep thought #5: Emily Bothwick sets a PB of 1.91m, and takes a win at the first Gold meet of the World Indoor Tour. Emily took out some prominent high jumpers, which should remind us of one more important point. No one is too big to take down. Emily has some big PBs in front of her.
