The Steamboat Classic 4 Mile is one of the rarefied races that has seen the tremendous growth of the sport, from early in the running boom to the present day. A whose who of
road racing history has run at this excellent event. A special congrats to our friend, Glenn
Latimer, who was entered into the Steamboat Hall of Fame! Phil Lockwood, the race director,
as many know, was the Road Race Management Race Director of the Year in 2008….

Edna
Kiplagat (ASICS/Kenya) won today’s Steamboat Classic 4 Mile (6.44 km)
in 19:56, her third PB in three road races this year. Edna opened the
race with a 4:56 mile, and then began to pull away from the leading
pack, opening about 50m by Mile 2 and 70-80m by Mile 3, coming through
5K in 15:35. She closed the race with 2:17 (!) for the final 800m.

Constantina
Dita was also in Peoria for the induction of her good friend, Glenn
Latimer, to the race’s Hall of Fame. Constantina is a two-time champion
at Steamboat, and was herself last year inducted to Steamboat’s Hall of
Fame; but this morning she ran with and helped pushed the wheelchair
for local favorite Tammy Bryan in the “Accessing Steam” 4K section of
the weekend’s events.
Dita was also in Peoria for the induction of her good friend, Glenn
