Bernard Lagat added to his American records today, running an excellent 7:29.00, to take Bob Kennedy‘s venerable 7:30.84, set July 8, 1988, in Monaco. Bernard took second to Tariku
Bekele, who ran 7:28.70 to Lagat’s fine 7:29.00 for second place. Edwin Soi, also under 7:30,
was in third. Chris Solinsky finished fifth in a pb of 7:34.52.
Bernard set the AR for 5,000 meters on June 4, in Oslo, running 12;54.12. He ran a spectacular 1,500 meters, his best in years, in 3:32.56. After his 3,000m win at the AVIVA
London GP, Lagat ran a 7:35.11 in Zurich. His AR here takes three seconds off his personal best!
