New Balance Indoor Grand Prix features Junior Invitational Miles, with team competition focus, release, note by Larry Eder

The Reggie Lewis Center will come alive on February 5, 2011 for three amazingly competitive hours. Now in its 16th incarnation, the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix is an example of how to orchestrate a grand night of athletic competition!

The meet has been known for great high school miles and this year, there will be team scoring, which should make it more interesting (using a cross country type scoring method).

Also note the Lukas Verzbicas, the 2010 FootLocker XC Champ, the 2010 Nike NXN champ, and the adidas GP mile champ, will be running in the invitational mile-think he wants to run fast? More to come!



Junior Invitational Miles
To Focus on Team Competition
New England Team Looks to Showcase Indoor Dominance


BOSTON
(Jan. 27) -Adding a wrinkle to its traditional Junior Invitational Mile
races, organizers announced that the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will
feature a team scored Junior Boys’ and a team scored Junior Girls’ mile
race.  On February 5th, top high school athletes from the New England
area will defend their home turf on the Reggie Lewis Track as its team
challenges a visiting squad of athletes from other regions of the
country. Tickets for the 16th annual Olympic-styled event are on sale
now at www.nbindoorgrandprix.com or by calling 1-877-TIX-TRAC.

Cross
country styled scoring for top finishers on each squad will determine
the winning team. The New England’s team of athletes includes:  

GIRLS
Lindsay Crevoiserat (Glastonbury, CT) – Fastest prep female at 1 mile and 1000m in 2011
Andrea Keklak (Lincoln, MA) – Fastest prep female at 600m in 2011
Maggie Mullins (Andover, MA) – 2nd fastest prep female at 2 miles in 2011
Kathy O’Keefe (Newton, MA) – 2nd fastest prep female at 1000m in 2011
 
BOYS
Robert Allen (Cranston, RI) – 2010 Rhode Island Cross Country State Champion
Zac Fraielli (Providence, RI) – 2nd fastest prep male miler from Rhode Island in 2011
Shayne Collins (Mansfield, MA) – 2nd fastest prep male miler from Massachusetts in 2011
John Murray (Shrewsbury, MA) – 2010 Massachusetts Cross Country Div 1 State Champion
Daniel Nestor (Madison, CT) – Fastest prep male miler from Connecticut in 2011

The
Junior Invitational Mile races, which began in 2005, have become one of
the annual highlights in Boston.  Lukas Verzbicas, the nation’s top
prep miler in 2010, will be featured in the New Balance Indoor Grand
Prix Invitational Men’s Mile.   Entry information is available from
