The 2011 Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburg Marathon sold out today! Indicative of the popularity of big city marathons, the 2011 Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburg Marathon announced that it’s field had reached their goal of 22,000 in the five events over the weekend! Nice job Pittsburg! (And we love the logo!). It is also indicative of the success that large sportings goods chains are having with performance running footwear and the amazing amount of running footwear sold at Marathon & Race Expos.

2011, the Sunday, May 15, 2011 running of the Dick’s Sporting Goods
Pittsburgh Marathon is officially sold out. The UPMC Health Plan
Pittsburgh Half Marathon and Fed Ex Ground Pittsburgh Marathon Relay
have been sold out for several weeks. The 2011 event will be the largest
in the event’s history. In total, over 22,000 runners are expected to
participate in five events over the course of race weekend, including
Saturday’s UPMC Health Plan/UPMC Sports Medicine Pittsburgh 5K Run and
the Toyota of Pittsburgh Kids Marathon.
A small number of bibs
are still available this week only through the Run for a Reason charity
program. Runners are encouraged to visit www.pittsburghmarathon.com for a complete list of affiliated charities, and secure their charity registration by April 1, 2011.
