DEMPS WINS THE 60 M
NAMPA (USA, Mar
11): Fast sprints highlighted the second day of NCAA first division
championships. Jeff Demps clocked 6.56 to beat Jamaican hurdler Andrew
Riley 6.57 PB and Kemar Hyman of Cayman Islands 6.59. Riley aiming for a
medal in the 60 m hurdles ended fourth 7.58 as he was beaten by Jarret
Eaton 7.54, Devon Hill 7.55 and Barrett Nugent also 7.55. In women 60 m
fast 7.12 by English Gardner ahead of Octavious Freeman 7.15 and
Aurieyall Scott 7.20. Tony McQuay with 45.77 and Diamond Dixon with
51.78 were the 400 m winners. In women hurdles Christina Manning clocked
7.91 beating Brianna Rollins 7.93. In the 800 m finals Mason McHenry
1:47.96 and Nachelle Mackie 2:03.30. New ZealandÂ´s Lucy Van Dalen
fulfilled the favorite role in the mile 4:39.76, in the menÂ´s race
Briton Chris OÂ´Hare 4:01.66. Kenyan Lawi Lalang achieved his double
winning after 5k also the 3000 m in 7:46.64 again ahead of Chris Derrick
7:46.81. In technical events Slovenian Tina Sutej won the pole vault
445, Omar Craddock the triple 16.75. Slovak Marcel Lomnicky was the best
in the weight throw 22.04. Relay winners were men of Arkansas 3:04.92
and women of LSU 3:31.89. Curtis Beach scored 6139 points in the
heptathlon and Canadian Brianne Theisen in pentathlon 4536 points. Tia
Brooks improved to 19.00 to win the shot put.

RUSSIAN WIN, OLY PLACE FOR OZAKI
NAGOYA
(JPN, Mar 11): Russian Albina Mayorova clocked personal best 2:23:52 to
win the Nagoya Women Marathon. Second Yoshimi Ozaki qualified for
Olympic Games with 2:24:14 beating Remi Nakazato 2:24:28 PB. Fourth Yoko
Shibui 2:25:02 with 2004 olympic winner Mizuki Noguchi 6th 2:25:33.
Second best European Ukrainian Olena Shurkhno was 7th 2:25:49 and former
world champion Catherine Ndereba 22nd 2:35:08.

ISTANBUL
(TUR): A leader of Istanbul’s bid to host the 2020 Olympics and
Paralympics is set to be formally announced within the next few days,
Turkey’s Minister of Youth and Sport Suat KÄ±lÄ±Ã§ has revealed. A
nationwide competition to design the bid logo will also be launched if
Istanbul, as expected, are put on the shortlist by the International
Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Executive Board on May 23, KÄ±lÄ±Ã§ also said.
Istanbul is the only one of the five candidates not to have so far
announced a bid leader or unveiled a logo and slogan.

VIENNA (AUT): Austrian daily newspaper Kronen Zeitung revealed
that legendary Haile Gebrselassie will return to Vienna City Marathon
on April 15 this year. Last year he run the half-marathon, his distance
for 2012 edition will be announced later. It is expected that
Gebrselassie will visit different races during the coming years.

(SWE, Mar 10): Australian Ben Harradine won the discus indoors at the
World Indoor Throwing Meeting with solid 64.12 ahead of Dutch Eric Cadee
62.34. In women discus Briton Jade Nicholls 58.97, in women javelin
Anna Wessman 57.75.

MANKATO (USA, Mar 10): At NCAA Division II fast 60 m 6.65 by Dominique Hubert.

FULLERTON
(USA, Mar 10): Josh Mance clocked 46.05 in the 400 m at Ben Brown
Invitational outdoor meet. Reggie Wyatt posted 50.47 at 400 m hurdles
and Hungarian female hammer thrower Jenny Ozorai got 68.08.

BYDGOSZCZ (POL, Mar 10): Steeple specialist Tomasz Szymkowiak
won the national CC title at 12 km with 37:03 ahead of Krystian Zalewski
37:08. In the shorter 4 km the win for Mateusz Demczyszak in 11:43
beating Bartosz Nowicki 11.45. Female winners were Katarzyna
Broniatowska 13:50 at 4 km and Katarzyna Kowalska 27:59 at 8 km.

OHRDRUF (GER, Mar 10): At German CC Championships Musa
Roba-Kinkal won the menÂ´s 9.9 km in 30:49 ahead of former Polish runner
Marian Blazinski 30:52. In women 5.2 km the win for Eleni Gebrehiwot of
Ethiopian origin in 17:51 ahead of Anna Hahner 17:54 and Corinna Harrer
18:20. In the shorter race surprise from Tobias Grobl at 4.1 km in 12:28
ahead of Wolfram Muller 12:35.

SPANISH TOWN (JAM, Mar 10): Oshane Bailey clocked 10.33 (+0.8) at 100 m during G.C. Foster Classic meeting.

YEVPATORIYA
(UKR, Mar 7): Ukrainian walking titles for Andriy Kovenko 1:20:51 at 20
km beating Ivan Losev 1:21:02 and junior Ihor Lyashenko 1:21:07. In the
35 km the win for Oleksiy Kazanin 2:35:20. Women 20 km for Nadya
Borovskaya 1:33:10.
