FLORIDA AND LSU, 4X400 M WL
DES MOINES (USA, Jun 9): NCAA Championships ended with first ever win for men of Florida (50) over LSU (48) and Texas AM (40). In women teams 15th win for LSU (76) ahead of Oregon (62) and Texas AM (38). In total 20 048 spectators saw the four day event. Florida men at 4×400 m with only US runners achieved world leading 3:00.02 (Dukes, Graham, Seymore and individual winner McQuay). Second Southern California 3:00.64. In short relay LSU got fast 38.38 over Florida State 38.57 and Auburn 38.69. Women relays saw LSU winning the 4×1 in 42.75 beating Texas AM 42.82 and Oregon in the 4×4 new meet record 3:24.54 over LSU 3:24.59. Jamaican Andrew Riley is the first in the history of this event who achieved 100/110H double. On Saturday his winning hurdles result was 13.53 (-3.5) beating Wayne Davis of Trinidad 13.60 and best US Spencer Adams 13.73. Maurice Mitchell defended the 200 m title but against -4.2 could not be faster than 20.40. Also in women sprints against head-wind, Kimberlyn Duncan defended her 200 m title in 22.86 (-2.3) and Christina Manning achieved 12.89 (-3.1) over Brianna Rollins 12.91 in the hurdles. Meet record for Ukrainian Hanna Demydova 14.20 (+2.0) in the triple jump. Jordan Clarke repeated his 2011 win in shot put with 20.40 personal best. In distances Andrew Bayer won close 1500 m in 3:43.82 (second Miles Batty 3:43.83) and Donn Cabral the steeple 8:35.44. Katie Flood was the best in the 1500 m (4:13.79) and Abbey D´Agostino in the 5000 m (16:11.34).
QUINONEZ SPRINT DOUBLE (20.34 NR)
BARQUISIMETO (VEN, Jun 9): Brazil ahead of Cuba and Colombia is the countries medal standings after 2nd day of 15th Iberoamerican Championships. Alex Quinonez scored a sprint double for Ecuador with 20.34 NR at the 200 m over Brazilian Aldemir Da Silva 20.57. But Brazil won women 200 m Evelyn Oliveira 22.99, Geisa Arcanjo 18.84 in women shot put (ahead of Natalia Duco of Chile 18.46 and Misleidys Gonzalez 18.03). Luiz Alberto Araujo scored 7772 in decathlon. Cuban winners were Ignacio Morales at 110 m hurdles 13.54 (+1.0), Andy Gonzales at 800 m (1:46.93 over Brazilian Fabiano Pecanha 1:47.15), Yoandri Betanzos in triple (16.75, +2.9) and Roberto Janet with hammer (72.74). Young Braian Toledo of Argentina was the best in javelin 77.33 and German Lauro completed a throwing double with shot put 20.13. Another gold for Argentina in pole vault by German Chiaraviglio 540. Colombia got two golds by Eliecit Palacios at 100 m hurdles (13.15, +0.4) and Rosibel Garcia in the 800 m (2:03.00). Wins also for Chile (Aravena Pincheira in men 3000 m 8:04.46), Mexico (Sandra Lopez 16:10.77 in the 5000 m), Portugal (Susana Costa in triple 13.64) and Venezuela (Marvin Blanco in 5000 m 14:19.89).
OTHER RESULTS
OSAKA (JPN, Jun 10): Last day of Japan National Championships saw new national record in women javelin by Yuki Ebihara 62.36 m. Chisato Fukushima completed a sprint double with 23.35 win at the 200 m (+0.1). Satomu Kubokura won the 400 m hurdles 55.98 and in the 5000 m Hitomi Niiya achieved 15:17.92 over Kayoko Fukushi 15:25.74. In men events Kei Takase won the 200 m in 20.42 PB (0.0) over Shota Iizuka 20.45 and Shinji Takahira 20.56.
WATFORD (GBR, Jun 9): At British Milers Club meet Portugal´s Sara Moreira clocked in the 5000 m European lead 15:08.33. German twins dominated the 1500 m. Diana Sujew 4:08.95 and Elina Sujew 4:11.46. In men events Australian Jeremy Roff won the 1500 m in 3:39.47 and 17-years old Jessica Judd improved to excellent 2:01.09 in the 800 m over Australian Tamsyn Manou 2:01.57.
LODZ (POL, Jun 9): At 20th Ludwik Szumlewski Memorial Konrad Podgorski improved to 792 (0.0) log jump. Anna Jagaciak achieved windy 665 (+3.6, legal 651) and 14.06 (+3.5, legal 13.86) in women jumps.
OSIMO (ITA, Jun 9): Simone Collio clocked here at Trofeo Marche meet 10.29 (+0.8) in the 100 m.
ADDITIONS
LILLE (FRA): Alekna’s mark in Lille is not a world master’s record, it is European masters record. The world mark belongs to four-time Olympic champion Al Oerter, with his 69.46m back in 1980. In the 5000 m 7th Haile Ibrahimov clocked new national record for Azerbaijan 13:20.09.
