4 WORLD LEADS: LYSENKO, KRIVOSHAPKA, PISHCHALNIKOVA, UKHOV
CHEBOKSARY (RUS, Jul 5): Another stellar day at Russian Championships.
Four world leading marks highlighted the action. Tatyana Lysenko
achieved in hammer 78.51 (in round 5, also 77.26 and 77.37 in the
series) also new Russian record and second best ever mark. Behind her
tough fight Gulfiya Khanafeyeva 76.04, Mariya Bespalova 74.91 and Anna
Bulgakova 74.02 PB. Former Eurochamp Darya Pishchalnikova improved to
70.69 in discus, the best result in this event since 1992. Vera Ganeyeva
was second 64.20. Another world lead in top women 400 m final 49.16 PB
by Antonina Krivoshapka ahead of Yulia Gushchina 49.28 PB, Tatyana
Firova 49.72 PB and Natalya Nazarova 50.07 and Anastasiya Kapachinskaya
50.37. That will be a relay. The fourth world lead in men high jump what
was another superb competition. Ivan Ukhov after one miss at 237 went
to 239 and cleared, his outdoor PB. That was the win ahead of Andrey
Silnov who got 237 in first and after two tries at 239 saved one for 241
(Ukhov tried 241 twice and had for example before 3 tries at 228).
Third Aleksandr Shustov with 235 made the team ahead of Aleksey Dmitrik
233 and Sergey Mudrov with Danil Tsyplakova both 231 and both PB´s.
World champ 2009 Yaroslav Rybakov 8th (220). Kirill Ikonnikov won the
hammer with 80.71 personal best, Aleksandr Menkov with 824 (+0.2) the
long jump ahead of Pavel Shalin 808. Lyukman Adams confirmed his
position with 17.06 (0.0) win in the triple jump. Sergey Kucheryanu
cleared 572, the same for second Dmitriy Starodubtsev and third Yevgeniy
Lukyanenko 565 ahead of Dmitriy Zhelabin also 565 (PB) in the pole
vault. Sensational 400 m final with 45.01 PB for Maksim Dyldin, 45.24 PB
for Pavel Trenikhin, 45.36 for Vladimir Krasnov and 45.43 for Denis
Aleksandrov. Hurdles titles for Konstatin Shabanov (13.57 +0.9,
Shubenkov got a bye) and Tatyana Dektyareva 12.81 (+1.1) ahead of
Yekaterina Galitskaya 12.90 (but 12.78 PB +1.1 in heats). Fast 1500 m
heats for Yekaterina Martynova 4:01.62 ahead of steepler Yulia Zaripova
4:01.70 (life-time bests for both) and former world champion Tatyana
Tomashova 4:01.76.

NAIMETTE-XHOVEMONT (BEL, Jul 5): Olympic winner Pamela Jelimo won the
unusual 600 m at Liege meet with 1:23.35 what is fourth best mark ever
and second best perfomer behind Ana Fidelia Quirot 1:22.63 and Maria
Mutola 1:23.13. Second Marilyn Okoro 1:24.36 and third Tamsyn Manou
Oceanian record 1:25.79. Jonathan Borlee clocked Belgian 300 m record
31.87, the third best European ever. Very impressive triumph for 19
years old Kenyan Abraham Rotich at 800 m with 1:43.62 ahead of Rueben
Bett 1:45.44. 10 000m was announced as come back race of Daegu World
Champion Ibrahim Jeylan but he withdrew at around 8k in a race won by
Lelisa Desisa in 27:18.17 in front of other Ethiopian Abera Kuma in
27:18.37 PB. David Payne won 110h in 13.38 (-0.9) over Dimitri Bascou
13.40. Young Belgian Anne Zagre dominated the women hurdles in 13.05
(-0.3). Another US wins for Kind Butler in the 200 m (20.75, -0.5),
Justin Gaymon 400 m hurdles (49.41) and Funmi Jimoh in the long jump
(646, -0.3). Alhaji Jeng cleared 550 to win the pole vault and Jamaican
Carrie Russell the women 100 m in 11.38 (-0.3). Good steeple saw
Moroccan junior Hicham Sigueni improving to 8:21.78 over Kenyan Nelson
Kipkogei 8:22.24 and olympic standard for German Steffen Uliczka 8:22.93
(also PB).
BENGTSSON 458 WJR
SOLLENTUNA (SWE, Jul 5): Folksam Grand Prix meet registered fast season
best for world indoor champion Abubaker Kaki of Sudan 1:43.69 in the 800
m over Australian Jeff Riseley 1:45.99. Home Angelica Bengtsson of
Sweden cleared 458 cm in third attempt in the pole vault and that is new
World junior record. She cleared 457 last year in Tallinn at European
Junior Championships, hew World Junior Indoor record is 463 from winter
2011. She also tried at 465 cm. Moroccan Yassine Bensghir won the 1500 m
in 3:34.50 ahead of Taofik Makhloufi of Algeria 3:35.07. Kenyan Josphat
Menjo was the best in the 5000 m (13:16.87). Jamaican Kimmari Roach won
the 100 m in 10.49 (+0.1) and Sudanese Yusif Rabah the 400 m in 45.80.
New personal best for home Nil de Oliveira winning the 200 m in 20.72
(-0.7). Gerd Kanter was the discus winner (67.27) and Maksim Lynsha
scored hurdles for Belarus (13.55, -0.4). European champion Moa Hjelmer
was beaten at 400 m (52.55) by Ilona Usovich of Belarus (52.17).
Canadian Hillary Stellingwerf won the 1500 m in 4:09.14.
GREAT 100 M DUEL, RUDISHA AND PEARSON
PARIS (FRA): AREVA meet in Paris will have 17 DL events in the programme
(no additionals) and as main highlight the men´s 100 m with Tyson Gay
in his first 100 m on track in Europe since September 1, 2010 in Zagreb.
Against him US Champion Justin Gatlin and home star Christophe
Lemaitre. Another top event will be men´s 800 m with world record holder
David Rudisha. World Athlete of the Year 2011 Sally Pearson is the top
women name. Main men duel the 5000 m and on the women side the 1500 m.

MEN
100 m: Top two from US Trials Gatlin and Gay versus Eurochamp Lemaitre, from Jamaica 4th from Trials Frater.
800 m: Rudisha against the clock.
5000 m: Last part of Ethiopian trials (all the top including Kenenisa) for fast times, but Kenyans with Isiah Koech also there.
SC: Trials winner Kipruto against Trials disappointment but world leader Koech.
400mH: Culson is fresh, no trials, but Dai Greene was also resting and
Bershawn Jackson is full of motivation after not making the team.
PV: Helsinki once again Lavillenie against Mohr and Otto.
TJ: Could be anybody, but El-Sheryf was looking good in Helsinki.
SP: Armstrong the favorite.
JT: Eurochamp Vesely lost only one competition so far, why not continuing in this. Thorkildsen withdrew.
WOMEN
200 m: Home star Soumare with London relay bound B. Knight and rested Ahoure.
400 m: Montsho showed top shape with African Champs win. Ohuruogu to test her fitness against Novlene Williams-Mills and Whyte.

100mH: The Star – Sally Pearson – world lead possible. Rested Porter
will attack along with 3 US who did not qualify (Castlin, Crawford,
Carruthers).
SC: Kenya vs. Ethiopia but also Eurowinner Mingir and in first top competition of the year world medalist Ghribi.
HJ: Lowe as the top name with Eurowinner Beitia.
LJ: New French star Lesueur with Russian champion Sokolova and US London bound DeLoach with UK record holder Proctor.

OTHER NEWS
HELSINKI (FIN): European Athletics writes that it would have been easy
just to list all 19 men’s and women’s individual winners in Helsinki but
our panel of experts have reduced that number to 15 nominees in the
men’s and 13 in the women’s category, which also includes a few
superlative performances earlier in the month. European Athletics is
pleased to announce that athletes from 15 different countries have been
nominated for the June award. The voting will close on 19 July at noon
CET.
LAUSANNE (SUI): International media accredited to the London 212 Olympic
Games will benefit from a solution of solidarity forged at the recent
European Athletics Championships in Helsinki by AIPS President Gianni
Merlo and LOCOG Chairman Lord Sebastian Coe. Following the very amicable
and fruitful meeting between Coe and Merlo, LOCOG has agreed to provide
75 Bronze Internet Packages which will be distributed for use on a
needs basis amongst accredited AIPS members in London. Gianni Merlo
said he was absolutely delighted that with LOCOG’s support, AIPS is now
able to assist journalists in need of support to cover the costly
Internet fees imposed by LOCOG’s Rate Card.
OTHER RESULTS
BUCURESTI (ROU, Jul 5): First day of National Championships had top high
jump 227 by Mihai Donisan and Marius Dumitrache. Andreea Ograzeanu
clocked windy 11.29 (+2.3) to win the women 100 m (legal 11.32 +0.4 in
heats). Ioana Doaga was the best in women 1500 m 4:09.19. Ancuta Bobocel
was fast in steeple 9:31.95 PB. Cristina Bujin leaped to 14.25 (+2.4)
in triple and Nicoleta Grasu got 61.79 in discus.
CEDAR RAPIDS (USA, Jul 4): Ethiopian Alene Emere Reta won the Fifth
Season 8km in 23:04. Diane Nukuri-Johnson, who will be running in the
London Olympic Marathon for her native Burundi but who lives in Iowa
City, broke Kris Ihle’s 15 year-old course record here, clocking 25:50.
Also noteworthy in the women’s race was the 30:17 clocked by 14 year-old

ORDOS (CHN, Jul 1): The 7th Amy Hendong Yijinhuoluo International
Marathon Ordos in Inner Mongolia was won by Haile Haji Gemeda in
2:14:15 ahead of Abebe Dinkesa 2:14:48. Kenyan Winfridah Nyansikera was

PRAHA (CZE, Jul 5): Jan Kudlicka cleared 560 in the pole vault but other olympic standard attacks were not succesful.
