Brittney Reese, gold medal, Long Jump, by PhotoRun.net

Two jumps and four fouls, and Brittney Reese takes gold in London! Here is how she won the biggest meet of her life!  Elena Sokolova scored a PB to take the silver and Janay DeLoach, on her fifth jump, took the bronze!

Brittney Reese is a long jump goddess now. After winning the World Champs in
2009 and 2011, indoors and outdoors, Brittney needed one more medal to add
to the resume. A former basketball player, Brittney loves jumping and gives her
jumping a bit of a basketball attitude. I love watching Brittney jump. She is the
best clutch jumper I have ever seen.
Two legal jumps, her second was 7.12m and her fifth was 6.69m. She won off
her second round jump.
Elena Sokolova, the Russian jump goddess, had a strong series: 6.80m, 7.07m,
6.84m, 6.93m, 6.78m and 6.79m. Her second jump, in 7.07, gave her the silver.
Janay DeLoach was fighting all night long for that bronze medal. Ineta Radevica
had jumped 6.88m on her first jump, leading until round two. Then, she lost
the bronze medal by .01 with DeLoach’s fifth jump in 6.89m.
Anna Nazarova was fifth in 6.77m and Lyudmila Kolchanova, also of Russia,
was sixth in 6.76m.
