5 World leads, Jeter cramped in the 100 m
WALNUT (USA, Apr 20): 55th edition of MtSAC Relays saw in total five world leading marks. In men 100 m Mike Rodgers posted 10.04 (-0.4) over Ryan Bailey 10.18. Olympic medalist Erik Kynard cleared 234 in the high jump, in a tie for second Canadian Michael Mason (equaled his PB) and World champion Jesse Williams, both 231. In women events first the 4×100 m Team Jet achieved new meet record 41.79 (White, Jeter, L. Williams and Okagbare) ahead of Kersee All-Stars (Harper, Felix, Tarmoh, Crawford) 42.96 and France 43.76. Later in the individual 100 m English Gardner posted world fastest 2013 11.00 (+1.8) but leading the race was world champion Carmelita Jeter who cramped and just stumbled to the finish line as 9th in 11.68. “Caught a slight cramp, I am ok,” she tweeted afterwards. Second Tori Bowie 11.14 PB, third Mikele Barber 11.16 ahead of Lakeisha Lawson 11.18 PB and Lauryn Williams 11.20 with Natasha Hastings 11.24 PB. In the Olympic development 100 m Mandy White hugely improved to 11.07 (+1.2), her previous best was 11.40. Last world lead the 22.31 (+1.3) by Nigerian Blessing Okagbare in the 200 m (also life-time best for her) ahead of Candyce McGrone 22.85. From men events to note also Saudi Arabian 400 m improvement for Yousef Al-Masrahi 45.18 ahead of Bryshon Nellum 45.65. Olympic finalist Duane Solomon won the 800 m in 1:46.03 over indoor revelation Erik Sowinski 1:46.05. Windy hurdles for Ryan Wilson 13.23 (+2.7) ahead of French Pascal Martinot-Lagarde 13.28, decathlon olympic winner Ashton Eaton 13.37 (to note also 14.24 in shot put) and world champion Jason Richardson 13.39. Jeshua Anderson won the 400 m hurdles 49.14, Jeremy Dodson the 200 m 20.49 (+1.6) and Qatari Samuel Francis the Olympic Development 100 m in 10.09 (+2.4). HSI clocked 38.93 in the 4×100 m and Japan 3:06.00 in the 4×400 m. From technical events Japan´s Hiroki Ogita life-time best 570 in the pole vault, Haiti´s Samyr Laine impressive 17.36 (+1.4) in the triple jump, Mexican Luis Rivera 805 (+0.8) in the long jump and Kibwe Johnson 76.28 in hammer. From women to add also windy hurdles 12.43 (+2.7) for Yvette Lewis ahead of Vashti Thomas 12.56 and Canadian Jessica Zelinka 12.91. Georganne Moline posted 55.70 in the 400 m hurdles. In technical events olympic medalist Brigetta Barrett cleared 189 in the high jump, Melissa Gergel 440 in the pole vault. Canadian record holder Sultana Frizell got 71.57 in the hammer.

GAINESVILLE (USA, Apr 20): Olympic bronze medalist Justin Gatlin clocked in his first 100 m of the year solid 10.06 (+0.8) at Tom Jones Memorial Meet. Second Rondell Sorrillo of Trinidad 10.26 ahead of Briton Harry Aikines-Areyettey 10.27. In the 400 m the specialist Tony McQuay was timed with 45.88 ahead of sprint star Tyson Gay who got 45.95 in his first individual 400 m race since 2010. David Oliver achieved 13.36 (+0.9) in hurdles heats, but did not contest the final won by 2009 World Champion Ryan Brathwaite of Barbados 13.36 (+3.0). In the 4×100 m Pure Athletics in 38.70 beat Great Britain 38.91. Briton Danny Talbot was the fastest in the 200 m 20.67 (+0.4). Jamaican star Veronica Campbell-Brown after losing last weekend in Nassau was back in winning ways with fast but windy 22.18 (+2.6) at the 200 m with Auriyeall Scott 22.73 and Alexandria Anderson 22.77 second and third. In other race Britons Anyika Onuora 22.98 (+0.3) and Perri Shakes-Drayton huge PB 23.30 (she did not had sub 24 before). Olympic medalist Christine Ohuruogu was timed with 23.88 (+1.0) and 54.64 in her races. Fastest over 400 m Italian Libania Grenot 52.86. Another olympic medalist Kellie Wells won the 100 m hurdles in 12.79 (+2.1, legal 12.96 +1.6 in heats) over Tiffany Porter 12.87 (12.97+1.5 in heats). Shara Proctor leaped to 663 (+0.6) in the long jump.
A. Merritt 13.37, Lendore 45.00
BATON ROUGE: World record holder and olympic winner Aries Merritt clocked at the hurdles 13.37 (-0.2) at LSU Alumni Gold meet. Trinidad´s relay olympic medalist Deon Lendore improved his best in the 400 m to exactly 45.00. Jeremy Hicks showed impressive shape with windy 831 (+3.3, legal 803 0.0) in the long jump. Diondre Batson confirmed last weekend fast time with a win 10.26 (+1.2) over a good field. Second Ameer Webb 10.27 and fifth Norway record holder Jaisuma Saidy Ndure 10.37. Webb won the 200 m in 20.59 (-3.6). French Mickael Hanany won the high jump (222) and Texas AM clocked 39.02 in the 4×100 m over Tiger Olympians (including Richard Thompson) 39.16 and Canada 39.18. Jamaican Natoya Goule improved in the women 800 m to world leading 2:00.76. Hurdles star Lolo Jones clocked windy 12.80 (+4.2) in her season opener. Kimberlyn Duncan was good with 11.18 (+1.8) in the 100 m over long jumper Chelsea Hayes 11.34. Kamaria Brown achieved windy 22.47 (+2.5) in the 200 m. Jessica Beard dominated the 400 m in 51.62 and Casandra Tate won the 400 m hurdles in 56.40 over Jamaican Nikita Tracey 56.51. In the 4×100 m Texas AM in 43.64 beat LSU 43.95 and Canada 44.00.

LAWRENCE: The 86th Kansas Relays saw world leading 48.77 at 400 m hurdles by Olympic medalist Michael Tinsley. It was a birthday present as Tinsley celebrates on Sunday his 28 years. Second Michael Stigler 49.42, former World champion Bershawn Jackson 51.22 as 5th. In the 100 m close decision between Trell Kimmons 10.214 and Jamaican Jacques Harvey 10.215 (+1.4). In the mile Cory Leslie in 3:58.18 personal best beat olympic medalist Leo Manzano 4:00.13 and olympic finalist Nick Symmonds 4:00.21. David Payne in 13.42 (+2.2) beat Olympian Jeff Porter 13.44. In women events Jamaican Novlene Williams-Mills won the 400 m in 51.68. Canadian Nicole Sifuentes achieved a good double with 2:04.17 and 4:14.54. Queen Harrison in 12.98 (+0.7) beat Nia Ali 13.00 at 100 m hurdles, with long jump olympic medalist Janay DeLoach-Soukup fifth 13.41. Ellen Wortham dominated a good field in the 400 m hurdles 56.67 and Mary Saxer cleared 450 in the pole vault over Becky Holliday 440.
OTHER US SATURDAY RESULTS
ATLANTA: At the SIAC Championships Jeffery Henderson won the 100 m in 10.25 (+1.8).
COLUMBUS: At Jesse Owens Memorial Mike Hartfield leaped to 796 (+0.2) and AG Kruger got 75.45 in the hammer.
PALO ALTO: Australian olympic finalist and World junior medalist 2012 Steven Solomon opened the season with 46.91 win here.
EUGENE: Elijah Greer clocked 1:46.02 at the 800 m during a dual meet. Jonathan Cabral won the hurdles in 13.56 (+0.3), Mike Berry the 400 m 45.92 and Jamaican Akheem Gauntlett 20.55 (+2.0) in the 200 m.
OXFORD: Isiah Young was fast again. At Mississippi Open achieved good double 10.09 (+1.2) and 20.39 (+2.0). Second was US Indoor Champion D´Angelo Cherry 10.34. In women 400 m hurdles Russian Vera Rudakova started with close to PB 56.99.
AUSTIN: Jamaican Patricia Hall again a good double, this time at Longhorn Invitational with 22.98 (+2.8) and 51.57. In both races second Kineke Alexander of St. Vincet 23.32 and 51.63. Antoine Adams of St. Kitts won the 200 m in 20.71 (+0.9). Solid shot put with Ryan Crouser 20.10 and Jacob Thormaehlen 20.00.
AUBURN: Still a junior Bahamian world junior and youth champ Shaunae Miller won the 200 m at War Eagle Invitational in personal best 22.61 (+1.2). In the 100 m Sheniqua Ferguson beat with 11.26 (+1.8) Jamaican olympic medalist Kerron Stewart 1
1.27 and reigning world junior champion Anthonique Strachan of Bahamas 11.47. Levern Spencer of St. Lucia cleared again 190 in the high jump and second Nigerian Doreen Amata also 190. In men high jump Bahamian talent on display: Ryan Ingraham equaled his best 228 cm. Torrin Lawrence won the 400 m in 45.80 and Harry Adams clocked 10.29 (+1.9) in 100 m heats. Second in the 200 m 2007 World medalist at 100 m Derrick Atkins with 20.96 (+4.6).
WACO: Jeremy Wariner lost his first 400 m outdoor in 45.72 at Michael Johnson Dr. Pepper Classic. David Verburg beat him in 45.56. Charles Silmon won the 200 m in 20.76 (-0.9) and South Plains clocked 39.34 in the 4×100 m.
LONG BEACH: No Croatian 100 m record because the wind was +2.5, but Dario Horvat clocked 10.24 what was quicket than the national mark 10.25 by Dejan Vojnovic in 2001. At Beach Invitational also good throwing in shot put Tim Nedow 20.35 (outdoor PB) and in discus Brazilian record holder Ronald Odair 62.30 beat Casey Malone 62.06.
RALEIGH: Dentarius Locke after fast PB in heats (10.08) won the final at the ACC Championships with 10.12 ahead of Darrell Wesh 10.14 PB and Tevin Hester (still a junior) 10.22. Wesh then beat Locke in the 200 m 20.70 to 20.73 (-0.7). James Harris improved to 45.25 to win the 400 m and Spencer Adams got the hurdles in 13.70 against -2.2 wind. Brianna Rollins won the 100 m hurdles in world leading 12.87 (-1.4) and the 200 m in personal best 23.04 (+0.2).
BALTIMORE: At Legacy meet Gabon´s Ruddy Zang Milama clocked solid 11.24 (+1.9) in the women 100 m. Olympic 400 m medlist Lalonde Gordon from Trinidad won the 200 m in 20.86 (+3.4).
OTHER RESULTS
REUNION (FRA, Apr 20): European indoor champion Jimmy Vicaut opened his season with windy 10.14 (+2.7) at the 100 m after a bad start. Second Lesotho record holder Mosito Lehata 10.33. He then was second in the 200 m begind Lehata, times not known yet. Next meet for Vicaut should be in Geneve, Switzerland on June 1.
POTCHEFSTROOM (RSA, Apr 20): Great improvement for bronze winner in Goteborg Czech shot putter Ladislav Prasil. During a training camp in South Africa he achieved at a local meet 21.47, the current outdoor world lead. It is also second best all-time in Czech Republic. The Czech Federation website informs the result will not be approved as Moscow standard, as the meet is not fulfilling the necessary conditions. But it is statistically valid of course.
ASUNCION (PAR, Apr 20): At the South American GP meet in U23 category Bruno Rojas clocked new Bolivian 200 m record 21.17 (+0.3), second Freddy Maidana got Paraguay record 21.21.
MAR DEL PLATA (ARG, Apr 20): Olympic finalist German Lauro achieved good 20.63 at the “Justo Romyan” South American GP meet. Braian Toledo won the javelin 78.26 and Rocio Comba women discus 59.84. South American hammer record holder Jennifer Dahlgren was registered with 70.94, her first 70+ of the year. Brazilian Jonathan Mendes clocked hand timed 13.5 at 110 m hurdles. Another good Brazilian win for Patricia Gabriela dos Santos 441 in the pole vault, her personal best.
BREZICE (SLO, Apr 20): In women hammer Rosa Rodriguez of Venezuela achieved Moscow standard 71.88, second home Barbara Spiler 68.90.
MOMBASA (KEN, Apr 20): Prison athletes dominated the fifth NBK/AK Athletics Weekend Meeting at the Shanzu Teachers Training College, Mombasa County. Simon Rotich won the 800 m in 1:52.0, Titus Kathoka the 1500 m in 3:51.3, Agnes Mulee in 4:37.4 topped the women 1500 m.
NAKURU (KEN, Apr 20): World Junior Champ Mercy Cherono from Kericho makes at 1500 m /5000 m at the annual Rift Valley Province Police Interdivisional championships.
BAYAMON (PUR, Apr 20): Curacao Olympic participant Lee Marvin Bonevacia won here the 400 m in 45.84.
