The 2013 ING New York City Marathon is less than 72 hours away and the races are very tight. Who can win? Who will win the World Marathon Majors? Who will win the battle for the streets of New York?

Alfons Juck, of EME NEWS, gives you his best idea in the article below!

Scoop on ING New York City marathon and battle for World Marathon Majors…by Alfons Juck, EME News

Top favorites, two WMM decisions
NEW YORK (USA): The top favorites for the 2013 ING New York City Marathon are on the women side double world champion Edna Kiplagat and this year London winner Priscah Jeptoo. Also the winner of World Marathon Majors 2012/13 will be decided. Non starter Rita Jeptoo leads with 65 points, but Priscah Jeptoo if winning and Kiplagat first or second (but Rita not winning) could overcome her.

Also to note 2011 winner Firehiwot Dado, Bezunesh Daba, World medalist Valeria Straneo, Japanese Risa Shigetomo, Kim Smith from New Zealand, Croatian record holder Lisa Stublic, German Sabrina Mockenhaupt and Ukrainian Tetyana Gamera-Shmyrko. From US runners best personal best by Amy Hastings.

Also in the men race London winner Tsegaye Kebede and Olympic winner and world champion Stephen Kiprotich will battle for WMM win and 500 000 USD prize. Not fighting for series win but still among top favorites is the last winner from 2011 Geoffrey Mutai. Also to mention Boston past winner Wesley Korir, former winner here Meb Keflezighi, 2:05 runner Stanley Biwott. Again healthy is another former winner here Martin Lel.

From Other countries to note Japanese “every weekend competitor” Yuka Kawauchi, European debutant with great record on the track French Bob Tahri, also to note Italian Daniele Meucci for second marathon, but first with top preparation. Best PB from US runners Jason Hartmann.
