I looked this interview up after Jereem’s exciting win at the World Indoors in Belgrade, Serbia. We had run it, but we did not have the pictures from our archives.
Jereem Richards was the 2017 London WC bronze medalist at 200 meters. He was also part of the TTO team that took down the heralded USA 4x400m team in London in 2017.
Jereem was the Commonwealth gold winner at 200m in 2018. In Birmingham 2018 World Indoors, the TTO team for 4x400m took 4th in the relay; Jereem ran the second leg. (Jereem was on the bronze medal-winning TTO team in Istanbul 2012 World Indoors.
In 2019, Richards took the silver in the 200m at the Pan Am Games and bronze in the 4×400 meters. At the World Championships in Doha, Trinidad & Tobago’s 4x400m took fifth (Jereem was on the team)
This interview was done in June 2021. Jereem is relaxed, and focused on his goal, to be the finest 200m/400m that he can be and win 4x400m medals for Trinidad & Tobago.
In Tokyo, Jereem took 8th in the 200 meters. His TTO teams took 8th in 4×400 meter relay in Tokyo 2021.
On March 19, 2022, Jereem Richards took the gold medal in a tough fought 400 meters, in 45.00, setting an NR, and breaking the record of his late team mate Deon Lendore, who died in a car crash in January 2022.
