Christian Coleman opened his season in style at the Seiko Grand Prix, as did Michael Norma and Rai Benjamin. The Seiko Golden Grand Prix is on the Continental World Tour, highlighting events around the world, and giving athletes even more chances to compete at a world-class event.

TOKYO (JPN, May 8): American stars were in victorious form at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix at Olympic Stadium (WACT Gold). Christian Coleman won the 100m in 10.09 (+0.1) from Yuki Koike (10.22), Mike Norman was a runaway winner of the 400m in 44.62, Rai Benjamin won the 400m hurdles in 48.60 from Kazuki Kurokawa (49.08) and Kendra Harrison won the 100m hurdles in 12.76. There were also notable home victories on the track for Rachid Muratake in the 110m hurdles in 13.34 (+0.1) while 20-year-old Ryuki Miura won the 3000m steeplechase in 8:22.25. Infield events, highlights included a Japanese double in the long jump for Natsuki Yamakawa (8.14 PB) and Sumire Hata (6.63m) and in the javelin for Roderick Genki Dean (82.18m) and former world U18 champion Haruka Kitaguchi who won with 63.93m ahead of Lina Muze (61.68m) and world champion Kelsey-Lee Barber (61.00m). Ryoichi Akamatsu also won the high jump with 2.27m. US Lynna Irby won the 200m in 23.09 (-0.1), Australian Georgia Griffith got the 1500 m in 4:06.04, and New Zealand´s Brad Mathas 1:46.58 in the 800 m.
