Ashton Eaton is the world record holder in the Decathlon, as well as World Champion (Moscow 2013) and Olympic champion (London 2012). He is now focused on the heptathlon, and sees, from his training that he has a good shot at breaking the world record for the heptathlon in Sopot, Poland for the World Indoor Championships.

EATON THINKS WR

MONACO (MON): “I’ve been keeping track of my training sessions, I’ve done about 40 (this winter) and it tells me that I’m getting a little bit more mature. It’s not so much about the physical work now, it more the mental part of it. Remembering that, I’m like a seasoned veteran now, getting more performance done with less work,” said Ashton Eaton about his state of preparation for the IAAF. Last weekend in Boston he clocked 6.73 in the 60 m and indoor PB 15.05 in the shot put. This weekend he competes at NYRR Millrose Games. And about the possibility to improve his World indoor heptathlon record in Sopot? “Yes, I think so. Based on the amount of time I have left before the World Indoors, I think I am in shape to break the world record again.”
