The Track and Field Athletes Association has requested of USATF that a panel be set up to review the 3,000 meter disqualification of Gabe Grunewald, which occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the USA Indoor Champs.

Re: USATF Indoor Nationals Women’s 3,000 m

The Track and Field Athletes’ Association (TFAA) was founded by athletes as an independent athletes’ association to represent athletes’ rights in professional and Olympic track and field competitions. The TFAA seeks to work with federations, meet directors, and others to improve the profession of track and field for our athlete members.

It is the position of the TFAA that a committee be formed to review the appeal process that resulted with the disqualification in the women’s 3,000 m on Saturday evening, February 22, 2014. We respectfully request that the committee have at least two (2) athlete representatives chosen by the TFAA. Our request is supported by the broader athlete community. We are making this request with the hope to improve transparency and trust in the decision making process.
