Dejan Gebrmeskel, the World Champs 3000m indoors bronze medalist and four time victor at Carlsbad, had a nail biter with Ben True, fastest American last year at 5,000 meters, as they ran stride for stride over the last 100 meters. Dejan was given the nod in 13:26, and Ben True second, also in 13:26! Stephen Sambu was third in 13:27.

On the women’s side, Molly Huddle the 5,000 meter AR holder (14:44), moved through the field and went by second placer Mamitu Daska, in the last hundred meters, to win in 15:12. Daska was second in 15:14.
Ben True, sponsored by Saucony, will be running the 5,000 meters in the Payton Jordan on May 4. Ben True has been training with Sam Chelanga, and has been running fantastic. He was fourth in both the 5,000m and 10,000m in the US Champs in hot, humid, Des Moines last year. He followed that up with a 13:11 on the track and recently won the Gate 15k, the US Champs at 15k in a tough battle with Chris Derrick (NIke). Ben True should come close to 13 minutes this year and very fast 10,000m this summer.

Molly Huddle wants to run 31 minutes at the Payton Jordan, a distance runner’s paradise, held on the first Sunday night of May at the Stanford track in Palo Alto, CA. Yes, Runblogrun will be there. Huddle is sponsored by Saucony.
Dejan Gebrmeskel, the Olympic silver medalist at 5,000 meters, World Champs indoor bronze at 3,000 meters, one of the most personable of the Ethiopian athletes, is deadly over the 5,000 meter distance, with a best on the track of 12:46 from 2012. Gebrmeskel is sponsored by adidas.
The BAA 5K is a huge hit! Runners were, an hour later, walking the finish line, taking pictures, and chatting with family and friends.
Now, off to the Boston Expo, like half of the city of Boston!
The BAA One mile will be held at 11: 45 AM. RunBlogRun will be there!
