MANCHESTER (GBR): Top UK hurdler Tiffany Porter is planning to use the BT Great CityGames Manchester on Saturday 17 May as the springboard to a double medal challenge in the outdoor track season. Now the 26-year-old is aiming for podium finishes at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July and at the European Championships in Zurich in August. And in preparation for that twin summer challenge Porter will take on two medal winners from the 2012 Olympics when she lines up for the 100m hurdles in the BT Great CityGames Manchester. A native of Ypsilanti, Michigan, but now based in the English East Midlands at Loughborough, Porter faces Americans Dawn Harper-Nelson and Kelli Wells, who took silver and bronze in the women’s 100m hurdles final at London 2012. The London Olympics was rather different for Felix Sanchez, who lines up in the men’s 200m hurdles race in the BT Great CityGames Manchester. His unexpected victory in the 400m hurdles came at the age of 34 – eight years after his previous global success, at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. His rivals in the 200m hurdles in Manchester will include Britain’s Andy Turner, who also races in the 110m hurdles, the event in which he holds the Commonwealth title.
