An amazing 90 minutes of track and field finals last night! 



Belocian WJR, Cain home win in 3000 m, surprise in girls 800 m
EUGENE (USA, Jul 24): French Wilhelm Belocian topped the third day programme at World Juniors with World junior record 12.98 (+0.5) at 110 m hurdles. Second Jamaican Tyler Mason 13.06 CAC junior record and bronze for Briton David Omoregie 13.35 with Wellington Zaza of Liberia 13.38 African junior record fourth. Sensation in women 800 m as Margaret Wambui of Kenya won in 2:00.49 PB over favorite Sahily Diago of Cuba 2:02.11 and Georgia Wassall of Australia 2:02.71 with Iceland´s Anita Hinriksdottir after too fast pace dropped out. Highlight for home crowd was the 3000 m won by US Mary Cain in 8:58.48 PB. Silver for Lilian Rengeruk 9:00.53 and third another Kenyan Valentina Chepkwemoi 9:00.79 PB. Trinidad and Tobago Machel Cedenio improved to 45.13 and clearly won the 400 m over Nobuya Kato of Japan 46.17 and Abbas Abbas of Bahrain 46.20. Kenyan favorite Jonathan Sawe fulfilled his role in the 1500 m final with 3:40.02 win ahead of surprise Abdi Mouhaydin of Djibouti 3:41.38 , third Kenyan Hillary Ngetich 3:41.61. Here best European Jan Petrac of Slovenia as 6th (3:44.39). Russian wins for Alena Lutkovskaya in meet record 450 in the pole vault with Desiree Freier of USA 445 US junior record and Elza McCarteny of New Zealand national junior mark 445. Sweden´s favorite Sofi Flink was beaten by 15 cm in javelin (56.70) by Russian Yekaterina Stargina 56.85, both top marks in last round. Bronze for Croatian Sandra Kolak 55.74. Poland´s Konrad Bukowiecki won the shot put clearly with 22.06 over Denzel Comenentia of Netherlands 20.17 PB and US Braheme Days 20.01. Asian affair in long jump, top two for China favorites Wang Jianan 808 (+1.5) and Lin Qing 794 (+1.6), bronze for Japanese Shotaru Shiroyama 783 (+2.4). Fastest in 200 m semifinals Irene Ekelund of Sweden 22.97 (+2.5) and US Trentavis Friday 20.35 (+1.8) with British Thomas Somers improving to 20.37 (+1.9). Best in 400 m semifinals Gilda Casanova of Cuba 52.45 and in 400 m hurdles Bahraini Ali Khamis with national junior mark 49.94. Hungarian Bence Pasztor topped hammer qualification 79.26 and French Rouguy Dallo improved national junior mark to 13.77 (0.0) and was the best in the girls triple qualification.
