The Women’s 100m hurdles will be a fantastic final. The controversy that some observers have over Tobi Amusan notwithstanding, this final could be one for the ages.

Women’s sprint hurdles

The eight finalists for Sunday morning’s Women’s sprint hurdles are as follows, listed with their semi-final time.

Tobi Amusen (Nigeria) 12.40

Michelle Jenneke (Australia) 12.63

Cindy Ofili (England) 12.67

Megan Tapper (Jamaica) 12.68

Devyn Charlton (Bahamas) 12.70

Danielle Williams (Jamaica) 12.80

Michelle Harrison (Canada) 12.85

Celeste Mucci (Australia) 12.96

It promises to be a great final. Cindy Ofili was fourth in Rio and then suffered a serious injury in 2017.  She finally looks to be back where she was. And with a PR in Oregon. The semi-final was on her birthday, and the crowd sang “Happy birthday”, a nice touch!

Megan Tapper took bronze in Tokyo but quite hasn’t looked the same since.

Similarly, 2015 World Champion, Danielle Williams, has had a difficult year with illness and injury.

However, all the talk has been about Tobi Amusen after her 12.12 in Oregon. I understand that Michael Johnson on BBC has been questioning the accuracy of the timing in Oregon.  Others say that it is all about the shoes. Whatever! She looked a class above the rest again today.

Tobi told AW ““When I was coming fourth, there was no tac tac tac. Greatness attracts a lot of enemies. God’s doing his thing, and I’m getting better!”
