In 2012, Nijel Amos took the silver medal in the Olympics, behind World record setting David Rudisha. In 2014, at the Meeting Herculis, Nijel Amos, in top form, went by David Rudisha, and led five men, including himself under one minute, forty-three seconds. That was on July 18, 2014, one of the finest nights ever, and one the best thirty minutes of track & field that this keen observer has ever witnessed.

Nijel Amos then went on to battle David Rudisha, still coming back from injuries,  at the Commonwealth Games, battling to the win there. After the race, Amos told the media that David Rudisha is his hero. But, Nijel Amos had lots to be excited about, most importantly being on the winning end of the Meeting Herculis 800 meters.

For that fantastic race, we give Nijel Amos the RunBlogRun July Global Athlete of the Month! We love how he has elevated the racing at 800 meters and look forward to a racing fit Mr. Rudisha, a racing fit Mr. Amos and others to do battle in Beijing and Rio over the wonderful two lap distance of 800 meters!
