WLODARCZYK DOES IT AGAIN IN BERLIN
BERLIN (GER, Aug 31): The oldest German one day meeting ISTAF of Berlin (first time held in 1937) offered for 50 000 spectators (IAAF World Challenge) something special. New hammer world record by Anita Wlodarczyk in second round 79.58. She improved the mark of Betty Heidler from 2011 by 16 cm.  It is also first senior individual track world record of the year outdoors. Her series was also very unique and the best ever: 75.29-79.58-78.46-79.04-78.64-77.94. Olympic Stadium of Berlin is her lucky place, she won here in 2009 the world title and achieved her first world record. “This stadium brings me luck, great feeling to throw the world record, but I also wanted the 80 m I know I can do it,” said Wlodarczyk. Her last chance this year will be at IAAF Continental Cup in Marrakech. Heidler herself was second 75.20 and will announce next week her plans for future. Three German throwing wins were achieved. Robert Harting in discus 68.21, David Storl in shot 21.41 (over Ryan Whiting 21.06) and Christina Schwanitz in women shot 19.53 (beating Russian Yevgeniya Kolodko 19.43). Excellent level in men 800 m won by World champion Mohamed Aman 1:43.52 only by 0.01 over 1500 m Olympic winner Taofuik Makhloufi 1:43.53 PB and Polish duo Adam Kszczot 1:44.02 and Marcin Lewandowski 1:44.03. In other distances African wins Augustin Choge 13:06.12 in the 5000 (second Bernard Lagat 13:06.68, for both top times of the season), Gebremedhin Mekonnen 3:33.24 in the 1500 m (German Homiyu Tesfaye fifth 3:34.24), 17-years old Tigist Assefa 800 m women 2:00.16 over former World champion Janeth Jepkosgei 2:00.28 and European Champion Maryna Arzamasava 2:00.40. Junior Ruth Chebet running for Bahrain won the steeple 9:26.94 over Sviatlana Kudzelich of Belarus 9:27.95 PB with Euro winner Antje Moldne-Schmidt fifth 9:34.49. Best sprints result 13.08 (+0.3) by Cuban Orlando Ortega in the hurdles ahead of Dayron Robles 13.30, Ronnie Ash 13.34 (first race since June) and William Sharman 13.35 with Aries Merritt 13.39. African Champion Isaac Makwala got the 400 m in 45.11 over European champion Martyn Rooney 45.14 and in women hurdles European champion Tiffany Porter 12.64 (0.0) beat reigning World champion Brianna Rollins 12.71. Caribbean 100 m wins for Richard Thompson 10.15 (-0.2) and Kerron Stewart 11.25 (+0.5). Netherland´s Ignisious Gaisah leaped to 813 (+0.5) to win the long jump and Poland´s 2011 World champion Pawel Wojciechowski cleared 580 to top the pole vault over Kostas Filippidis and Robert Sobera (for him PB), both 570.
