For much of the past decade, track fans have watched Meslech run World Cross country, winning the juniors in 2004, taking fourth and sixth in 2005, and third in both races in 2006 at World Cross. Her medals, from World indoors to World Outdoors over 10,000m give her an amazing pedigree.

With personal best from 8:23.74 for 3,000 meters, 14:32.91 for 5,000 meters and the afore- mentioned 29:53.80 for 10,000 meters, Meslech Melkamu’s debut at 2:21.01 in 2012 Frankfurt, make this return to Frankfurt, in her sixth start, momentous.

Already, in 2014, Meselech has run 2:25.23 for second in Dubai and 2:21.28 for fifth in Boston.

What will she run here?

Andy Edwards of Race News Service conducted the interview of Meselech Melkamu here!
