The landslide continues….
In a copyrighted story on Supersport.com, the IAAF’s Chris Turner is quoted by the Associated Press as noting that Ms. Zaripova, the 2010 European, 2011 World and 2012 Olympic champion is under investigation and may face bans from the sport. The reasons cited: abnormalities in Yuliya Zarpiova’s athlete biological passport.

In the past week, the Russian Federation has banned five World and Olympic medalists in race walking, one of them for life, and has seen countless allegations of doping, hiding doping and what looks to be systematic approach to hiding sports cheating. This seems to be the Lance Armstrong moment for Russia, but perhaps, it is not.
I watched Zaripova race before the World Championships in 2013, where she noted, on the eve of the event, an injury. Several sources now tell RBR that Ms. Zaripova was under the scrutiny of the IAAF drug testing team by that time. If that proves to be true, then, the thoroughness of the investigations into Ms. Zaripova’s wrong doing should also remind us, that many, at all levels, want to see sports cheats caught in their webs of intrigue.
