Jeff Benjamin is always doing something. Jeff did an interview with Eric Holt, his third in this series. Eric just took second in the LA Grand Prix Distance Carnival 1,500m Men’s B race in 3:37.76. Eric is coached by Tom Nohilly and John Trautmann, who are the coaches of the Empire Elite Club.

Third In A Series – Eric Holt

Eric Holt’s arc of progress tends to be on the rise!

Not afraid to mix it up with the “Big Boys”, the Empire Elite Track Club runner times have steadily come down from first breaking 4 minutes for the Mile in 2019 to posting a current PB of 3:53.53!

RunBlogRun, 1) How’s your training coming along & where are you based out of right now?

Eric Holt: “Training is going great, Jeff. I train with Empire Elite at The Master’s School in Dobbs Ferry, New York. My coaches are John Trautmann and Tom Nohilly.”

RunBlogRun, 2) What does your Outdoor track racing schedule look like at this point?

Eric Holt: “So far, I have the Henderson Invitational in West Chester, Pennsylvania, on May 5th, where I’m running the 800m. Then I’ll be running the 1500m for both Trials of Miles—at Icahn Stadium on May 19th and Los Angeles on May 26th. After that, it’s up to my coaches.”

RunBlogRun, 3) Any specific events you’d like to try and qualify for at the World Championships?

Eric Holt: “ I’m trying to qualify for the 1500m at the world champs this summer in Budapest, Hungary.”

RunBlogRun, 4) What keeps you motivated?

Eric Holt:  “I’m motivated to get a pro contract and fulfill my dream of being a professional runner and making the Olympics in 2024.”

5) What advice can you give to young runners?

Eric Holt: “Rely on consistency, hard work, and discipline. Surround yourself with great people who believe in your potential. And most importantly, don’t believe in talent because talent makes mentally weak athletes.”
