This is my chat with #RunBlogRun viewers and track fans on all things track & field!
This is Coffee with Larry for Wednesday, September 11, 2024!

Coffee with Larry is sponsored by OMIUS, the cooling technology company.

OMIUS makes hats, visors, and headbands that can help keep you cool. OMIUS developed cooling pods that fit into the hats, visors, and headbands, and provided that you wet the pods each 30-45 minutes, you will stay cool during a strenuous workout!

Our topics;
1. This is my 66th birthday.
2. My first cross country race was 52 years ago at DeSmet Jesuit HIgh, in Creve Coeur, Mo. Fr. Ralph Passereli, SJ was my coach.
3. That was my 14th birthday. Dad took me fishing in the morning at Rock Lake, a pay lake for huge catfish; my passion for fishing then and still.
4. That afternoon, on the two loop course around DeSmet campus, I ran 18:09 for two miles, finishing last.

5. I fell in love with the sport. I moved to California in 1974 and ran at Bellarmine, where I improved my fitness and racing by running 16-18 miles a day in the summer of 1974.
6. It took me nine years of running to win my first race, at tri meet over at Almaden quicksilver park and it was fun. 5.8 miles in the park, and my parents were there to see me.
7. Enjoy your day. I will be taking the rest of day to enjoy with my family.
See you tomorrow on Coffee with Larry.
