Tomas Walsh is a fine Kiwi shot putter. Tomas came up through the junior ranks to finish fourth in Beijing at the World Championships. Walsh is a fierce competitor, and gives the fans a real show. Looking forward to seeing Tomas Walsh compete in Portland at the World Indoors!

WALSH AIMS FOR PORTLAND

AUCKLAND (NZL): Oceanian shot put record holder Tom Walsh plans to compete at World Indoors in Portland and defend his bronze from Spala 2014. He will come directly from New Zealand´s summer season. Walsh who was fourth in Bejing explains on his blog: „Time is already quickly ticking by and it won’t be too long before I re-start my competitive programme. I hope to be back competing again in February for The Big Shot competition followed by the Auckland Track Challenge at Waitakere. In March I’ll them move on the National Championships in Dunedin before moving on to Portland to give the World Indoor Championships a nudge later in March. I cannot allow myself to look too far into the future, though. I have some pretty big goals to reach in training over the next month-and-a-half and it is only after the next six weeks or so I’ll find out just where I’m at. At the moment I’m only throwing around 19m which is to be expected for the time of year. But if I hit my targets for the Christmas/New Year period I’ll be really happy and then I can look forward to 2016 with confidence.”
