KINGSTON (JAM, Jan 28): Double Olympic winner Elaine Thompson opened her 2017 season with victory over 60 m at Queens Grace Invitational meet at the National Stadium. She clocked 7.02 (+1.7) ahead of Christania Williams who was also fast in 7.05. In the men's event, Julian Forte won the short sprint in 6.55 (+1.3) with Kevean Smith (6.60) and Michael Campbell (6.63) behind him. Olympic relay medalist and 400 m specialist Stephanie-Ann McPherson won the 100 m in 11.54 (+1.3), it was her first 100 m race since 2010. Men 100 m wentfor Marcus Brown 10.29. Winners of 200 m were Anneisha McLaughlin 23.54 and Demish Gaye 20.80 (+1.7). British Delano Williams won the 400 m in 46.67.
