At the Herculis Meet in Monaco, on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, athletes got closer and closer to Osaka, Japan. Athletes such as La Shawn Merritt, Matt Tegenkamp, Terrance Trammell and Jen Rhines showed that the care and development of a peak to the worlds is key!

The Herculis meeting is one of the most prominent of the summer. At the home of the IAAF, this meeting has a plethora of fine performances. Note La Shawn Merritt, continuing his fine running at 400 meters, with a 44.38. Angelo Taylor, the 400 meter champion, won an exciting race over Kerron Clement in 48.35, and Kenenisa Bekele, coming back from his 7.26 in the UK, ran a splendid 7:29.32 here, with Alistair Cragg in third in 7:32.49 and Matthew Tegankamp in 7:37.43.
But the performance of the nite was in the 3,000 meters for women, where Mariam Alouie Selsouie won in 8.29.52. Running in a pack for much of the race, Jen Rhines ran 8:35.03 to Kim Smith’s 8:35.31 to Shalane Flanagan’s 8:35.34! Rhines continues
to shine and peak towards Osaka, where she will join Shalane Flanagan on the 5,000
meter team for the U.S.
Note that Andrew Rock is finally rounding into shape with his 45.28 for fourth here as well.
