Neither meet produced the hoped-for sub-4 minute mile, but the winners at the Portland Track Festival and the Midwest Distance Gala still managed to break into the high school all-time top-20 list. Andrew Springer (Westerly,RI) ran 4:02.70 at the MDG, while out West Mac Fleet (University City,CA) held off the late charge of Robby Andrews(Manalapan,NJ), 4:02.90-4:03.49.
