The Scandanavian weather gods showed who really has control in the 2009 version of the Bislett Games. The weather gods love Meseret Defar, who lead five women under 14:41, ten under 14:50 and fifteen under 15:00 in an amazing 5,000 meters!

Asafa Powell won the 100 meters in 10.07, with Daniel Bailey of Antigua in 10.07 and Michael Frater at 10.08.
Renny Quow of Trinidad won the 400 meters in 45.18, with Leslie Djhone of France in second in 45.37. Yuriy Borzakovskiy of Russia won in 1;44.42 with Mohammed Al-Salhi of Saudi Arabia in second in 1:44.96-eighth place was 1:46.36.
A modest 1,500 meters was won in 3:36.24 by Cheboi Collins, with Alistair Cregg in seventh in 3:38.44 and Norway’s Morten Velde in 3:39.58.
The Golden Mile was one by Deresse Mekonnen, of Ethiopia in 3:48.95, with William Tanuie Biwott of Kenya in 3:49.29 in a new World Junior record. Augustine Choge was third in 3:50.22. Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia won the 5,000 meters in 13:04.87, with ten under 13:10.82, and fifteen under 13:23.31.
Antwo Hicks won the 110m hurdles in 13.41. Tero Pitamaki won the javelin in 84.63m, and the US Chris Hill took eighth in 75.60m.
On the women’s side, Kerron Stewart won the 100 meters in 10.99.
Sanya Richards won the 400 meters in 49.23, with Shericka Williams of Jamaica in second in 49.98. Debbie Dunn was fourth in 50.84, and Monica Hargrove was fifth in 50.96. In sixth place was Christine Ohuruogo, the 2007 and Olympic champion, in 51.19. Richards again has the world leading time.
Claire Gibson of Great Britian won the 800 meters in a modest 2:01.42.
The deepest race of the night, for women, was the 5,000 meters. Meseret Defar won in 14:36.38 over Vivian Chruiyot of Kenya in 14:37.01, with Meselech Melkamu in 14:37.50. Syliva Kibet took fourth in 14:37.77 and Wude Ayalew of Ethiopia was fifth in 14:38.44. Fifteen were under 15:00, ten under 14:50.
Ruth Bisibori Nyangau of Kenya won the steeple in 9:18.65 over Sofia Assefa of Ethiopia in 1:19.91. Damu Cherry won the 100 meter hurdles in 12.68.
Blanka Vlasic of Croatia won the high jump in 2.00 meters over Chauntee Howard of USA was second in 1.98m.
