In a telling race of their fitness levels, Asafa Powell ran 9.88 for second, as Tyson Gay ran 9.77, legal wind, to tie his American record of July 2008. Gay will run the 200 meters in Aviva London and Usain Bolt will run the 100 meters in the Aviva London Grand Prix. That means that Berlin will be the meeting of the sprint titans!

Sanya Richards is showing the world’s 400 meter runners that she is on target for Berlin, with her world leading 49.23 for 400 meters in Rome!
Powell_AsafaQ1-Rome09.jpg
Asafa Powell ran his 50th and 51rst sub ten second 100 meters. He is now number two on the all time list for sub ten second 100 meters. The leader, of course, at 52, is the one and only Mo Greene, who did that fifty two races from 1997-2004! Asafa ran 9.88 here to Tyson Gay’s 9.77!
Robles_DayronA-Rome09.jpg
Dayron Robles of Cuba, 2008 Olympic champion ran 13.18 at the Golden Gala,
in Rome on Friday night, July 10, 2009.

Thoughtful comments by Larry Eder. Music for inspiration was Californication soundtrack, season two ( a must have!).
