Lausanne: Despite Rain & Cold, Usain Bolt runs 19.59! results from IAAF, Note by Larry Eder

In the cold and rain of Lausanne, Usain Bolt ran the fourth fastest time ever over 200 meters-19.59, with LaShawn Merritt in 20.41 and Paul Hession of Ireland in 20.50 for third! Bolt told local media that he would concentrate on the 100 meters between now and Berlin, and announced that he was at about 80 percent of his complete fitness….not bad for 80 percent fitness!

Asafa Powell won the 100 meters in 10.07, with Churandy Martina in second in 10.16 and Mario Forsythe in third in 10.27. Mike Rodgers, the US champ, was in sixth in 10.30.
Ismail Ahmed Ismail of the Sudan held off Mbuleani Mulaudzi of South Africa , 1;44.80 to 1:44.97, with eight under 1:47. Note that Bernard Lagat ran 1:46.84. Antar Zerguelaine of Algeria ran 3:37.15 won the 1,500 meters, Derese Mekonnen set a personal best in the 3,000 meters with the time of 7:37.92, just holding of 2003 world champion Eliud Kipchoge.
Dayron Robles of Cuba, 2008 Olympic champion, ran 13.18, with Dexter Faulk in second in 13.21 and Aries Merritt in third in 13.52. Isa Phillips won the 400m hurdles over Kerron Clement, 48.18 to 48.51.
Australian vault king Steve Hooker won here, in 5.75m over Renauld Lavillenie and Damile Dosseci, both of France. Godfrey Mokoena of South Africa won the long jump in 8.05 m, with Dwight Phillips in 8.03 and Fabrice Lapierre of France in third in 8.00m.
On the women’s side, Shelly-Ann Fraser of Jamaica took the 100 meters in 11.03, giving Carmelita Jeter of the US her first defeat of the season. Kerron Stewart won the 200 meters in 22.73, with Shericka Williams in second in 22.99, and Bianca Knight in third in 23.10. Muna Lee had a bad day in the office, running 24.33, in eighth.
Gelete Burka ran 4:00.67, holding off Maryan Yusuf Jamal, who ran 4:01.99, and Christin Wurth-Thomas, who ran 4:05.09.
Sally McClellan dusted the 100m hurdle field in 12.60. Tiffany Williams won the 400 m hurdles in 54.73, with Zuzana Hennovja of the Czech Republic in 54.94, and Anna Jesien of Poland in 55.01.
