What a difference four years make! The Top 50 award was started four years ago at the premier Running Event. Like the show, the award has continued to grow and recognize the best of the best in specialty running stores, which are the present and future of our sport! Congrats to all fifty stores in the 2009 list and a tip of the hat to the Rouse’s, who exemplify the quality in our business!

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill., (November 12, 2009) – With countless running stores across the United States, Runners High ‘n Tri is honored to be named one of the top 50 best running stores in America. The announcement was made at an awards ceremony organized by Competitor magazine on Nov. 11, 2009 during The Running Event, the largest convention for running specialty stores held in Austin, Texas.
The nomination and voting was handled wholly independent of Competitor magazine and was coordinated by Formula4Media, which provides market research and analysis in the sports retail industry. The evaluation consisted of a year-long evaluation, including “secret shopping,” customer feedback and vendor relations.
“We’re honored to be part of the top running specialty stores and certainly in great company,” said Mark Rouse, co-owner of Runners High ‘n Tri and 13-time Ironman finisher. “I appreciate our loyal customers, who provide great support and energy at Runners High ‘n Tri.”
In Illinois, only two other retailers were named – Fleet Feet Chicago and Naperville Running Company.
