2025 Spring Racing/Training Program, June 15, 2025, week 13, day 7, Second week of sharpening, Second week, transition from track to cross country.

The crowd at the 49th Golden Spike Meeting in Ostrava were entertained, despite the light rain! Asafa Powell ran 9.88 in his heat, then 9.83 in his final to run the world leader at 100 meters!

Usain Bolt ran the seldom run distance of 300 meters. The best time ever, run at altitude, was Michael Johnson’s 30.85 in Stellenbosch South Africa. Bolt got out good, hitting 100 meters in 9.70 and 200 meters in 19.83 and kept going, running 30.97, a new meet record, but just shy of MJ’s world record. Watch Bolt in the video, it took him a bit of time to recover!

David Rudisha led a fast 800 meters, which he won in 1;44.03. Dayron Robles won the hurdles in 13.12, his seasonal best, in a pretty light field.

In the 3,000 meters, Yusuf Kibet Biwott of Kenya ran 7:31.68. Note that in third place was Bernard Lagat, who ran his PB of 7:32.49! 4th on U.S. lists!

On women’s side, Priscilla Lopes-Schliep won in 12.68, with LoLo Jones back in 12.85. Chaunte Howard Lowe won the high jump in 1.98, with Blanka Vlasic third in 1.92m! In the 10,000 meters, Meselech Melkamu ran 31:04.52 for the win, with Pauline Chemning Korikwiang of Kenya in second in  31:06.29 and Jessica Augusto of  Portugal finished third in 31:19.15.
