Mehdi Baala is having continued issues with his achilles, and will not
be running the Europeans. I am on way to Eugene, Oregon for
Nike Pre and Nike Track Nationals. My pick for major events on
Saturday: Women’s 5,000m, womens pole vault, Men’s 200m,
Men’s shot, Bowerman mile and Men’s 5,000 meters. My prediction
for Men’s 5,000 meters: New American Record of 12:50 for
5,000 meters.

EME NEWS (JUL 1, 2010) UPDATE

TOP NEWS

LAUSANNE (SUI): Also Athletissima of Lausanne (July 8, Samsung Diamond League)
is announcing the top clash in the women´s 100 m. World champion Shelly-Ann
Fraser will run against last year fastest Carmelita Jeter of USA. They will
meet first on Saturday at Pre Classic in Eugene.

PARIS (FRA): Double European champion at 1500 m French Mehdi Baala
announced his withdrawal from Barcelona Euro championships because of a tendon
injury. The 32 year old has been suffering from inflammation of his left
achilles for several months and recent speed work has shown that recovery is
not good enough yet.

EUGENE (USA): High profile Samsung Diamond League
Pre Classic in Eugene on Saturday won an interesting European addition.
European Indoor Champion Sebastian Bayer will compete in long jump. He jumped
last time in August 2009 and will now return.

BARCELONA (ESP): After the discussions around
Madrid high jump the Barcelona event is having Blanka Vlasic competing.
Croatian world champion will face at the Míting Ciutat de Barcelona on 9 July
(EA Classic) in an explosive competition Spain’s Ruth Beitia, world leader
Chaunte Howard-Lowe and Lavern Spencer of St. Lucia. Vlasic has never competed
in Barcelona in the past. But possibly one of the top favorites will be Italian
Antonietta Di Martino with high level of results this summer.
