(MAR, Jan 29): Kenyan Stephen Tum won the 23rd Marrakech Marathonin fast
2:08:51. Second Ethiopian Gezahegn Girma 2:09:29 ahead of another Kenyan Daniel
Rono 2:09:50. Home women win for Soumiya Labani in 2:34:56. Solid times also in
half marathon when Girma Berhanu achieved 1:01:59 ahead of Rachid Kisri 1:02:17
and best woman Malika Asahsah 1:11:14. In total 7000 participants.
(ITA, Jan 29): Napoli Marathon winners were veteran Ornella Ferrara in 2:41:10
and Moroccan Nasef Ahmed 2:18:54.
(KEN, Jan 29): Edwin Kipyego won the
21st edition of the Discovery Half Marathon in 1:02:30. Last year London marathon winner Emmanuel
Mutai was 6th in 1:02:55.
(JPN, Jan 29): In half-marathon wins for Takaki Koda 1:03:54 and Maiko Murayama
(ESP, Jan 29): Moroccan Abdelhadi El Mouaziz won here the 15th half-marathon in
1:03:24. Best woman was from Ukraine Olha Ochal in 1:12:47.
(SRB, Jan 29): Home winners at 45th Beli Kros (White Cross). Amela Terzic won
the 3 km in 10:40 and Mirko Petrovic the 8 km in 26:48.
SEBASTIAN (ESP, Jan 29): Top Cross race during the weekend was the 57th
Donostia when Kenyan Mike Kigen won with 38:08 at the 11.475 km tough and muddy
course. Second young Conseslus Kipruto 38:33 and third Josephat Menjo 38:37.
Best European Joseph Sweeney of Ireland fourth (38:43). Women 6.975 km saw home
star and 2009 World steeple champion Marta Dominguez finishing 5th as best
European in 27:53. Winner Nazaret Weldu of Eritrea 27:18 ahead of steeple specialist
Milcah Chemos 27:28, Trihas Gebre 27:44 and Kenyan Priscah Jepleting 27:52.
(JAM, Jan 29): Olympic medalist at 100 m Sherone Simpson posted fast 51.42 at
the 400 m during Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet at the National Stadium. Second
Anneisha McLaughlin 51.89 and third hurdler Nickiesha Wilson 53.94. Olympic
winner 2008 Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won her heat in 55.72. Melaine Walker, the
2008 Olympic and 2009 World 400 metres champion, had a close early battle
with MVP teammate Sherika Williams in their 200m heat before the latter pulled
away to win in 23.12, a good time for this early in the season. Walker was
second in 23.46 and Shereefa Lloyd was third in (23.65). Michael Frater, a finalist
in the men’s 100m Beijing and a relay gold medallist at the same Games,
ran 21.54 for third in heat one of the men’s 200m behind the winner Edino
Steele of Racers Track Club (21.23). Jamaican media are informing.
(ITA, Jan 29): Despite tough windy conditions, reigning 50 km Olympic champion
Alex Schwazer clocked an impressive 2:28:10 in the 35 km at the Winter Walking
Trophy in Latina. Schwazer showed very good going through the 10 km mark in
43:18 and the 20 km in 1:26:18 before unleashing a very strong final 10 km
split which he clocked in 40:34 (20:31 between 25 and 30 km and 20:03 between
30 and 35 km with a final km split in 3:55). Schwazer beat Chinese Wang
Zhen (2:31:29) and Giorgio Rubino (2:33:52). â€žIt was an important test to
assess my shape at this point of the season. I didn’t think I would
walk so fast. This means that everything is going in the right direction. My
first goal is to qualify for the 50 km in Dudince on 24 March”, said
Schwazer. Elisa Rigaudo also produced a strong
performance by winning the 20 km women’s race in 1:31:56 holding off her
training partner Liu Hong in the final straight after an exciting final sprint.
VALSUGANA (ITA, Jan 29): Italian CC titles for Gabriele De Nard (30:49 at 10
km) and Silvia Weissteiner (27:47 at 8 km).
INDOOR (Kucherenko 691, Koneva 14.60)
(RUS, Jan 29): Two world leading marks at Governor Cup meet. World medalist
Olga Kucherenko leaped to 691 in the long jump and Yekaterina Koneva got
life-time best 14.60 in the triple jump. Second Anna Krylova also good 14.39.
Second in long jump heptathlon world champion Tatyana Chernova 654.
VALLEY (GBR, Jan 29): During second day of London Games Asha Philip, the 2007
world youth champion over 100m defeated her global u18 successor Jodie Williams
twice over 60m. First 7.30 to 7.31 and then 7.24 to 7.32- they where the first
ever defeats for Williams to another British athlete. Fastest in menÂ´s 60 m was
Andrew Robertson who twice ran 6.65.
(CZE, Jan 29): Adam Sebastian Helcelet scored
5933 points to win the international combined events match in Stromovka
Hall. Second in heptathlon was Czech
star Roman Sebrle with 5808 points after: 7.26; 7.26; 15.44; 2.05 – 8.34; 4.50;
2.45.36. He plans another heptathlon at Czech CE championships in two weeks. Czech
Republic won the menÂ´s match with 20 983 points ahead of Netherlands 20 192,
followed by France, Spain and Great Britain. NetherlandÂ´s women won the
pentathlon match with record score 15 399 ahead of Great Britain, Czech
