Brooks Pure Cadence Named Best New Shoe in Running Network LLC Shoe Review
FORT ATKINSON, WISCONSIN – Best new shoe honors in the Running Network LLC Spring Shoe Review went to the Brooks Pure Cadence.

Each Running Network LLC shoe review starts with the 20 best running available to consumers. These shoes are carefully matched to 350 wear testers based on foot shape, motion and footstrike. Testers report their initial impressions and continue evaluating the shoes as they run 100 miles in them during the testing period. They evaluate the shoes on seven key performance characteristics. This data is put into a software system developed by Cregg Weinmann, the Running Network LLC footwear and apparel review editor, producing a winner in each category.
The Brooks Pure Cadence is the most substantial of the Brooks Pure series. At 10.5 ounces it is definitely performance-oriented, but not quite minimal. The upper features an elastic Navband that crosses the navicular bone to support the fit and works with the welded overlays to enhance the support and provide a smooth interior. The midsole is designed to flex with the foot. Pods on the perimeter of the outersole are contoured to allow for adjustments to pressure and also provide protection while keeping the shoe light weight. The full outersole offers durable traction while remaining thin and in an effort to provide better articulation at toe-off features a split between the big toe and the others. With its lightweight build, low-profile and high performance the Pure Cadence earned top honors as best new shoe (Weinmann 2012).
“Even though these shoes are very light, the reinforced toe doesn’t lay down across the front of my toes. The shoes have a roomy fit that gives my forefoot all the play it wants. The shoe snugs up around the instep nicely. Intersting how a minimal drop shoe feels more stable without a lot of support,” said one wear tester when describing the Pure Cadence.
“There are considerable similarities in the running footwear industry and consumers need to be aware that there are shoes from many brands that could work for them. We reviewed many fine shoes that should be considered because they fit and perform differently on different runners, so trying several is the only way to find the best shoe for you,” said Weinmann.
