The Payton Jordan Invitational, held April 29, 2012 at Stanford University, is one of the most important meets for middle and long distance runners of the season. It is the clarion call for the 10,000 meters this season. It will probably be one of the top three 10,000 meter fields of the season (Nike Pre men’s 10,000m, Olympic 10,000m will be, in my mind, only two better pre-Olympic).
Word is Chris Derrick may go for the Collegiate record (AR) for 10,000m. We also note that Alan Webb, US record holder at the mile, will be running the 1,500m. All in all, it is one of my favorite nights of the year.
If you can not get to the track at Stanford, then make sure you watch the LIVE coverage, which we have embedded below. Runblogrun will do its LiVE Blog coverage, from the track tomorrow as well.
