Opening with his big throw of 21.24 meters, Hoffa threw a series of 21.24m, a foul, 21.20m, 20.84m, 20.67m and a foul. This was less than two weeks after Reese Hoffa scored his first Olympic medal, a bronze, in the men’s shot put.

Tomasz Majewski, the 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold medalist, hit 20.27m on his first throw. His series, 20.27m, 20.88m, 21.01m, 20.71m, 20.20m and a foul gave him second on the basis of throw three where he hit 21.01m.

Ryan Whiting the 2012 World Indoor Champ, was third. His series of 20.94m, fould, 20.18m, foul, foul, and 20.61m,gave him his best on his first throw.

Reese Hoffa told the media:  “I feel like I could have done a little better but I was very happy with the results.  I had two throws over 21 meters, which is always a goal to be able to do that. I am very lucky that no else had a big throw. I know Tomasz is in great shape so to be able to win against the Olympic champion is very good. Very tough on the neck of the Olympics that is requires a lot of mental and physical energy so to come here is very difficult. I just want to have great results and finish the year strong. “
