The Running Event is the trade event of record for the run specialty business. That, is a fact. If  you want a place to meet run specialty owners, see who is presenting what in the business, find a place to interview the best of the best in the business, then go to the Running Event. The Formula 4 Media team has done a great job developing the trade show and events surrounding it.

Runblogrun heartily recommends you to attend The Running Event, December 3-6 in Austin, Texas.

THE RUNNING EVENT 2012

Daymond John and Other Retailing Experts Address Over 1,000 Specialty

Running Industry Leaders Dec. 3-6 in Austin

AUSTIN, Tex. (Sept. 5, 2012) – Dozens of young, start-up companies will join running industry flagship brands such as adidas, ASICS, Mizuno, New Balance, Nike, Under Armour, and Vibram FiveFingers at The Running Event (TRE) Conference and Expo, Dec. 3 to 6, 2012, in Austin, Tex. (therunningevent.com).

But all exhibitors, no matter how well established, are expected to benefit from the advice of Daymond John, the apparel and footwear entrepreneur behind FUBU, one of the hottest selling apparel and footwear brands in the world, and one of the co-stars of the hit ABC-TV show, Shark Tank.  John will provide his insights on Dec. 4 following the 2012 Running Specialty Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in the Hilton Austin, presented by the IRRA and sponsored by Leslie Jordan.

This year, the conference portion of the event on Dec. 3 and 4 will include presentations from speakers:

Rick Segel, the street smart, down to earth former retailer who is the author of 13 books, will speak about “Pro-Active Retailing: Bringing Your Business to the Next Level.”

Troy Hazzard, an expert on relationship marketing programs, will focus on “The Naked Truth on Relationship Marketing.”

Simon Bartold, internationally known sports podiatry and biomechanics expert, will present, “New Thinking for Running Shoes.”

Dr. Reed Ferber who holds a Ph.D. in sports medicine and gait biomechanics from the University of Oregon and is a board certified athletic therapist, will explain “Gait Analysis & Footwear Prescription.”

New for 2012 are the TRE-Mendous Awards for Product Innovation recognizing the best Newcomer Product of the Year from a new exhibitor, and the best Product of the Year from an established exhibitor who has participated in TRE for three or more years.

Other highlights of The Running Event are the 50 Best Running Stores in America Awards sponsored by Competitor magazine; the annual Indie 5K race for the coveted title of “Fastest Retailer in America;” and a Trail Run sponsored by The North Face.

The Running Event Expo, Dec. 4 to 6, 2012, in the Austin Convention Center, will be the largest in its seven-year history, with a roster of more than 225 exhibitors. Retail attendance is expected to be up 10 percent due, in part, to the scheduling change to midweek and a growing representation of stores from outside the U.S.

The December timing allows running industry vendors to display Fall/Winter 2013 product, providing retailers with a first look at new offerings from top footwear and apparel suppliers, as well as innovative accessories from leading manufacturers.

TRE is designated one of the 50 fastest-growing trade shows in America according to the August 2012 “Fastest 50” issue of trade publication Trade Show Executive.

The closed-to-the-public Running Event® is a registered trademark of Formula 4 Media, LLC.  For more information: www.therunningevent.com, 646 319 7878. For more information about exhibiting, contact Troy Leonard, show director, at 352 624 1561, tleonard@formula4media.com.
