Ian Stewart, the former head of UK Endurance and manager of UKA athletics meetings, has taken a consultancy with Nova International, the premier producer of major road races, swims and bike events in the UK.
Ian Stewart, the architect of the major athletics events in the UK for the past two decades, left UK Athletics, to, as he told his friends, spend more time with his wife, Stephanie Hightower, President of USA Track & Field, and get off the major rat race that was his double job at UKA. That was less than two weeks ago.
The job of mentoring UK Endurance, and at the same time, managing the major UKA meetings, had to be exhausting. Stewart’s assistant manager at UK, Spencer Barden, a former elite athlete, has taken over Stewart’s elite athlete management responsibilities. Spencer Barden, a keen observer of the sport, was given the opportunity by Ian Stewart to grow into his role at UKA.
The story we linked to below, from our friends at Athletics Weekly, notes that Ian Stewart will begin working for Nova International in a few weeks. Mr. Stewart is being hired by Brendan Foster and his management team to do what Stewart does best: put on the best events not only in the UK, but many of the best events in the world.
We wish Mr. Stewart much success.
