This release came from New Balance to celebrate the success of their women distance runners at the USA Outdoor Champs.

TEAM NEW BALANCE WOMEN VICTORIOUS AT

USA TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOSTON, June 24, 2013 – Global athletic leader New Balance announced today that four female athletes have secured spots to represent the brand and Team USA at the IAAF World Championships this August in Moscow, Russia. Team New Balance athletes will compete in the 5000m, 1500m, 800m and Steeplechase events in an effort to become world champions in the sport of Track & Field.

“We are so proud of the performances from the team this past weekend,” says Tom Carleo, Vice President of Running. “We knew we had a strong team going into the USA Track & Field Championships and could not be happier with the results. We look forward to continuing to support these great athletes and will be cheering them on in Moscow in a few weeks.”

Coming off a tremendous year in the back half of 2012, Brenda Martinez entered the women’s 800m at the USA Track & Field Championships with the second fastest time in the world. Brenda would secure her second spot on Team USA finishing second this past weekend with a time of 1:58.78 in the 800m. Brenda lives in Big Bear Lake, CA and trains under Coach Joe Vigil.

Current World Champion, Jenny Simpson outkicked an amazing field to win her first 5000m but plans to defend her title in the women’s 1500m this August at the IAAF World Championships therefore opening a spot for fellow Team New Balance athlete Kim Conley. Following a break out year, Kim will look to continue her success this August in Russia after coming in fourth in the 5000m with a time of 15:37.27. Kim lives in Sacramento, CA and trains under Coach Drew Wartenburg.

Nicole Bush approached the women’s 3000m steeplechase this weekend looking to overcome setbacks faced in previous years, including a heartbreaking injury in 2009 when officials set the barrier at the wrong height. Nicole led the race from start to finish dominating the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:44.53 and earning her first spot on Team USA for the World Championships. Nicole lives in Greenville, South Carolina and trains under Coach Robert Gary.
