BLAKE, RUDISHA, HIGH JUMP

NEW YORK (USA): The 6th IAAF Diamond League meet of the year before a break is  „adidas Grand Prix” at Icahn Stadium. The top issues at the meet will be mainly Yohan Blake in the 100 m, David Rudisha in the 800 m and deep high quality fields in women 1500 m and men 400 m hurdles and high jump.

Event by event

Men

100 m (non-DL): Blake in his first top 100 of the year. Carter waiting to attack.

200 m: Weir against Ashmeade, but Edwards is unbeaten so far this year.

400 m: Merritt in another solo, might break MR 44.70.

800 m: Rudisha wants to be faster than in Eugene, Solomon is there and Polish duo Kszczot and Lewandowski. They might come close to WL.

400mH: Top names Gordon, Tinsley and Culson and all-time greats Sanchez and Jackson. In good weather WL is a possibility.

HJ: Bondarenko vs Barshim with Kynard, but they are stopping too much talk about WR. But MR 236 should go.

LJ: Tsatoumas is unbeaten (Doha, Kalamata, Hengelo) can he continue? Rivera, Li Jinzhe and Taylor his main opponents. MR 816 in danger.

DT: Harting to continue in his Diamond race quest and will debut in NYC and possible attack on MR 66.84.

Women

100 m: The latest sprint sensation Bowie is the top favorite.

200 m (non DL): Bartoletta with winning appetite from Oslo.

400 m (non DL): McCorory vs McPherson, what is the shape of World champ Ohuruogu.

800 m (non DL): Mary Cain and her race, favorites Jamaican Goule and Briton Okoro.

1500 m: Aregawi after losing in Eugene wants to be back to top spot, Simpson is ready and what about latest sensation Seyaoum of Ethiopia. MR 4:01.60 will be in danger.

3000 m: Cherono and Kipyego to rule, interesting debut for Bahrain by former world indoor champion Kalkidan Gezahegne.

Steeple: Assefa looks to be the name here and MR 9:27.29 should go.

100 mH: US elite headed by Harper, Harrison and Lolo against French Billaud.

PV: Suhr for first time in DL this year against Silva, WL should go.

TJ: Jamaican win here is expected by K. Williams.

SP: Valerie to have her 50th win in a row.

JT: German affair Stahl with Molitor.
