The Exxon MOBIL Bislett Games is one of the most historic events in our sport. The 2014 event was no different with fantastic races. On the men’s side, the stories were the return of Richard Thompson to fitness, with his win in the 100 meters, Ayanleh Souleiman’s continued racing in the Golden Mile, (with Nick Willis close behind!) and a very deep 5,000 meters, with Galen Rupp in third in a fine early season 13:03. A superb steeplechase, with Jairus Birech winning in 8:02.37 and Evan Jager’s 8:06.97 second show that Jager will soon be chasing the eight minute steeplechase.

Renaud Lavillenie’s win in the pole vault showed that the KIng of the Pole Vault is that: the most consistent man in the event. Ashton Eaton’s win over 400 meter hurdles showed that the World’s Greatest athlete has extended his reach.

On the women’s side, Eunice Sum was supreme in the 800 meters, Allyson Felix’s win in the 200 meters, and Tianna Bartoletto’s long jump WL were impressive.

Deep high jump this year, it was nice to see Blanka Vlasic clear 1.98 meters, and Sandra Perkovic continues her domination of the discus throw.
