Hoka One One Huaka Named Best New Shoe in Running Network, LLC 2014 Fall Shoe Review
SAN JOSE, CA – Best New Shoe honors in the Fortius Media Group, LLC 2014 Fall Shoe Review went to the Hoka One One Huaka.
“The Running Network shoe reviews have, since 1998, provided the consumer with a great series of options for finding the shoe that best fits their needs. Starting with the best running shoes available to consumers, shoes are carefully matched to each wear tester’s footstrike, motion, and foot shape. After reporting their initial impressions, testers evaluate the shoes on seven key performance characteristics during the 100-mile testing process. All tester data is entered into a software system developed by Cregg Weinmann, Fortius Media Group’s footwear reviewer, producing a winner in each category.
“For the Fall Review, testers piled on hundreds of marathon training miles to put the shoes through their paces. This rigorous testing provides the critical feedback that validates the strengths of shoes from the various brands. The small differences between shoes are carefully compared within a matrix of features, price, and performance to determine the category winners,” said Weinmann. “Runners need to recognize that the general categorization of the shoes is only a starting point for them, and their needs should be their top consideration. The parity between brands has never been as close as it is now, meaning it’s more important than ever to find the shoes that fit and function best for you.”
“The Hoka One One Huaka is at home on- and off-road. They’re the most flexible Hoka shoes, while retaining all the other Hoka staples: rocker sole, tall stack height, low-drop geometry. The closed mesh upper has welded overlays, is secured with a Race-Lace system (a slide/lock cord), and the cool sublimated graphic really sets it apart. The midsole is RMAT, an elastic and durable material that doubles as a midsole for rebound, but is still tough enough to grip as an outersole. The 4mm heel-to-toe drop and midsole shaping provide a comfortable and efficient ride. Though the outersole is mostly exposed RMAT, it does have rubber in the high-wear spots. The cushioning, nimble feel, and imaginative design earned the Hoka One One Huaka top honors as the Best New Shoe” (to quote Cregg Weinmann from the RN Fall 2014 Shoe Review).
