Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis Announces The Urge as Post Race Headliner

  • Alternative rock band to perform at finish line festival in downtown St. Louis
  • Annual fall race returns the weekend of Oct. 15 – 16, 2016

ST. LOUIS – Alternative rock band, The Urge will headline the 2016 Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis Half Marathon on Sunday, October 16. The band will perform for thousands of runners and spectators at the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series event in downtown St. Louis. The finish line concert is free and open to the public.

“We are thrilled to have a band with local roots headline our post race concert,” said Katie Holmes, Event Manager. “The Urge will be an epic finale to race weekend and a great way to celebrate that 10K or 13.1 mile accomplishment with family and friends at our finish line festival. Registration is still open so grab a friend and ‘meet us’ in St. Louis.”

The Urge first came together in 1987 after meeting at Webster Groves High School in Missouri. Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s the band toured with KORN and Incubus. In 1998 they released the album Master of Styles, which included the hit single “Jump Right In.” The song was featured on MTV TV shows Daria and The Real World.

Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis will feature two-days of running with the half marathon and 10K on Sunday, October 16 at 7:00 am and the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K on Saturday, October 15 at 8:00 am. Participants can take the “Remix Challenge” by running both Saturday and Sunday to earn the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medals.

The half marathon and 10K will start and finish in downtown St. Louis. The course will provide incredible views of St. Louis’ signature Gateway Arch and will highlight the city’s scenic neighborhoods, historic areas and parks. The 5K will also take place downtown.

In true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion, live bands, enthusiastic cheerleaders and spectators will line the race route, concluding with a celebratory finish line festival and post race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series headlined by The Urge.

Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo, where runners can find the latest in running technologies, fitness apparel, health and nutrition information and interactive displays. The expo will take place on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15. The expo is free and open to the public.
