Gene McCarthy has weathered his brand, ASICS for a year now. Here is one of his first interviews post announcement of his position as president and CEO. We thought this was a good archive post with the TRE16 show in progress.
Gene McCarthy is the perfect model for a CEO and President of a running footwear company. His beginnings in the business was as as a Shoe rep. His background in the sport, as a running from high school to a running the equivalent of a four minute mile at 1,500 meters (3:42), gives Gene a unique understanding of the sport. From his time with Brand Jordan, to his time with Reebok and Under Armour, Gene McCarthy has honed his skills.
In this interview for RBR News, we asked about his running background, his lessons from Brand Jordan, Reebok and Under Armour, and his love of the sport. We thank Gene McCarthy for his time and Melinda Hutcheon, ASICS communications manager for giving us their time and candor.
